We used Bergen as a base.
We used Bergen as a base. It was either Bergen or Voss as we wished to see the fjords and the countryside. In Bergen caught the funicular up to Floyen for the great views and walked down through the woods. Tip, buy your funicular ticket from the tourist office and avoid the ticket queues at the funicular. We went on two fjord trips, one from Bergen to Mostraumen up to Mo, ~3.5h and also a separate day trip organised prior to arriving by ourselves. This took the 240 public bus Bergen to Gudvangen, cruise Gudvangen to Flam (note 2 cruise operators doing the same 2hr cruise so take your pick), Up the Flam railway and back to Bergen by train. with reserved seats. If you book a month in advance tickets on train and bus are cheaper. Whilst in Bergen went to Bryggen, St Marys (Mariakirchen) church, to Griegs house and saw a concert by a talented pianist from the Uni. Explored the peninsular (Nordes) where you find a totem pole at the park at the end.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nice place, good breakfast, employees spoke English fairly well and were nice. Very good location on the lake. Recommend requesting a room away from the elevator as it’s extremely loud and will keep you awake if you don’t have ear plugs.Guest review byAnnUnited States - 10.0
Vickinghaug is set amongst incredible Norwegian fjord...
Vickinghaug is set amongst incredible Norwegian fjord scenary. It has the other point of interest in that there is a, no longer functioning in its original capacity , factory in the middle of the Fjord. Because it poses no environmental problems any longer. This factory gives the Fjord an interesting historical relevance. The proprietors are obviously always improving the function of the accomodation to suit lots of different styles of travellers. We stayed in a three bedroom, self catering apartment with views on both sides. We had a drink in the evening looking over the lake and the waterfall and dinner at night looking over the Fjord. The walks in the area are popular because they are so full of natural beauty and thus attract many hikers and campers . The town felt slightly off piste from the over used tourist pathways which suited us perfectly.Guest review byRosemary SusanAustralia - 10.0
Eidfjord is a really beautiful city.
Eidfjord is a really beautiful city. We enjoyed every moment there with those landscapes. Mountains, river and sandbeach will give you more relaxiation. You will have everything that will need for your stay. There is a small supermarket as well though we didn't think about the price ;-)Guest review bySandunSri Lanka - 10.0

We went from Bergen to Odda on Saturday and spent one night at the hostel. We went for the hiking on Sunday early morning and back to Bergen at the afternoon. The small town is really cosy and beautiful.Guest review byYuxueNetherlands - 10.0
Røldal is a small and a beautiful town.
Røldal is a small and a beautiful town. Nice walk in the nature also the views are fantastic. We did not explore the local food there because we are vegetarian. But tried coffee and Bakari. It was nice. You can see some good waterfall and steep mountains around the town and good water bodies. We did not swim but I think there are some places you can go swimming also saw some people kayaking. Folgefonna glacier is approximately one and half hour drive from the town. Given a chance you must go. It is just awesome.Guest review byAmitNorway - 10.0

It was a charming and cozy hotel with good breakfasts and a scenic lake nearby. A true salvation for us on our way to Flåm and beyond. It’s a great pit stop between some of the most popular destinations like Flåm and others — and I think this hotel is just right. Highly recommended for travelers seeking a comfortable and pleasant stay rather than luxury.Guest review byHannaUkraine - 8.0
All the restaurants and the hotel were closed.
All the restaurants and the hotel were closed. Not possible to eat out. The factory sale shop was closed at Saturday, to bad, because this is normally a shopping day in the bigger cities. The foodstore Spar was ok, selling much more than Food (toys, clothes, Fishing Equipment, hiking Equipment, house Paint, interior articles, knitting wool, fabrics etc).Guest review byNinaNorway - 8.0

I loved the architecture and history of the town, esp the museum of early Bergen. The public transportation was good, and the fish market was wonderful. Bring your waterproof jacket and pants as it rains there 270 days a year, so we were told. We had two days where rain never stopped (we were there two days total). Also, the restaurant costs were very high…but Norway in general is very expensive for USA travelers and our dollar value has dropped, making it even more pricey. However,it was a charming town in spite of the gray weather.Guest review byPatricia KUnited States - 10.0

Voss is clearly the sporting capital of Norway whether it is Summer or Winter. Everything is in easy reach. Hotel was adjacent to the Gondola, Railway Station, Tourist information centre & close to lake & town. Our stay was in a traditional room with view of the lake. Perfect blend of traditional and modern. It had the singularly most advanced en-suite facilities I have ever used. Japanese technology & German manufacturing. Wonderful balcony for a couple to relax in. Room size was to USA standard with seating for 5, writing bureau, 55 inch TV, etc. Swimming Pool with personal lockers. Didn’t use the restaurant but bar meals were good with range of local beers. A number of individual reception rooms for quiet times, reading or family discussion. Staff are efficient & welcoming.
