Iconic arctic city. Good people.
Iconic arctic city. Good people. Feels a little like it's geared up for American cruise ships; the main street has 7-11s and the world's most northerly MacDonalds and several giant souvenir stores. And, boy, is it hard to get a reasonably priced vegetarian meal? Still, the library building is something to write home about, and the tunnels and underground car park are just remarkable.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We loved our stay in Bodø although we didn’t see much of the city itself. We hiked up Keiservarden, went to the Pust Sauna with a dip in the freezing ocean, went on a moose safari at night and ended our trip with a visit to the Luftfahrtmuseum.Guest review bySaraSpain - 6.0

Good facilities, the guy at the Tourist Info was very good, but it felt a little... functional? There's so many great places to stay that maybe look twice? Henningsvaer has a more attractive character, for example.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 8.0
We loved the beauty of the city.
We loved the beauty of the city. Tourist information staff were very friendly and helpful with information for sightseeing. War museum is excellently presented. Gondola ride to the top of Narvikfjellet is a must to see the beautiful sights from above Buses were easy to use and the plenty of shopping centres. We loved all the memorial statues, a beautiful city. We also took a ride on the Arctic Train, suggest this is a day time trip to see the amazing scenery.Guest review byChezAustralia - 10.0
Perfect spot.
Perfect spot. Very quiet as there was only a few cabins near by but still close enough to things that are going on. Views were amazing from the cabin with a decked seating at the front of the property with views of the sea and the mountains. Just beautiful. We ate at Anita’s restaurant. We also ate from a take away cabin in Flakstadoya, well worth going there. It was delicious. Sorry we didn’t have time to kayak in ReineGuest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We chose Alta, the City of Northern Lights, to "Hunt the Aurora Borealis". We were NOT disappointed. It was a magical experience. Lots of beautiful northern lights shows. We did a number of activities: night time horse drawn sleigh ride and dinner; king crab fishing experience; tour of the Ice Hotel at Sorrisniva; dog sled ride at Holmen Husky. We stayed at a canvas dome in GLOD, with the most amazing guide to see the Northern Lights. We stayed in a forest suite at Holmen Husky. The place was incredible and the way they treat the dogs will completely change your thoughts on the sport of dog sledding. They were the sweetest and happiest dogs I've ever seen. We stayed at Flatmoen Natur Lodge, which is a family owned and ran farm. Each lodge has their own private, outdoor jacuzzi so you can sit outside while the snow is falling or hope to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.Guest review bycmayes80United States - 10.0
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten.
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport. And once you do... it can be magic.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0
Can't really find any negatives for this place.
Can't really find any negatives for this place. The locals are very friendly, the streets are clean, the scenery is stunning and best of all its only about 35 minutes drive to Norkapp. If you are visiting we would 100% recommend booking a trip to Norkapp. Its a fascinating place...the top of Europe!!. We flew in, stayed 3 nights then departed on a fjord cruise. Well worth every penny. We decided to take a walk one morning, its obviously very hilly but not too taxing. Its about 5 miles to completely encircle the town though that did include a few detours for the sake of photos. There is a restaurant close to the Norkapp museum called The Corner. The food, welcome and service were second to none. Totally recommend it to any visitors. Well that's my opinion of Honningsvag, visit yourself and see what you think.Guest review byJimmy & JulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely town in the Lofoten Islands with a beautiful beach nearby (Rorvika). Great cafes and restaurants especially Klatrekafeen. Would like to have done some hiking nearby but we ran out of time and it was actually too hot!Guest review byWendyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
