Great location, walking distance to restaurants or just dine at the restaurant attached , easy ! Rooms were spotless, comfortable and we totally enjoyed our stay here . Parking was right outside your room and being on the ground floor you had a little patio outside which was a nice touch .

Pyke Cottage is in a convenient location in historic Clyde, within walking distance to great places to eat (Oliver’s; Three Peaks Coffee) and the beautiful Clutha River. The host, Peter, is super friendly and welcoming and makes you feel right at home, but leaves you to your privacy. The bed was really comfortable and the air conditioning was a welcome amenity on a hot Central Otago night. We had a great stay and can highly recommend the cottage for a couple or solo traveller!

Cromwell is a great place to base yourself, perfectly positioned in the heart of Central Otago between iconic hotspots like Queenstown and Wanaka. Just a short 45-minute drive from both, it's incredibly accessible, yet offers enough charm and character to stand proudly as a destination in its own right. Whether you're chasing adrenaline, exploring vineyards, or simply unwinding by Lake Dunstan, Cromwell caters to every pace. The town blends scenic beauty with a welcoming, laid-back vibe that makes visitors feel instantly at home. From world-class wineries to heritage precincts and local markets, it rewards those who linger with rich and memorable experiences. Don’t just pass through, spend time here. You’ll discover why many wish they'd stayed longer.

There is a big clock on the hilltop.

There is a big clock on the hilltop. A big playground in the city centre. An information centre with a museum and a small gallery in the same building. We could walk along the river in the bush. Grocery shopping was easy as there are two major supermarkets, New World and Woolworths. Fast food was easy to find. Cafes offer good-tasting coffee. There is plenty of free parking in the town centre, from where we could walk almost anywhere around the town. Alexandra is a small town for a visit, where you want to unwind in a laid-back setting. It is also close to Cromwell and Roxburgh, where you can go for cherry picking in the summer.

Very beautiful area, lovely history, nice restaurants and cafes. Great if you like to cycle, which sadly we do not. Autumn is the perfect time to visit. Be warned if you want to eat at Oliver's or the Post Office book ahead of time, we did not and could not get a booking. One night is probably enough, maybe two, then head off to Cromwell and onwards to see more.

We picked Ranfurly to stay as a central point to reach other areas we wanted to tour, and got that entirely right. Great service from the I-site, and the council office staff too, when we had some business to do. I'm amused that your questions say '' ýoung couples like you''. We're both 81!

Very nice walk right near the centre of town with great views of the river and lots of birds to be seen. The surrounding scenery is very impressive. We didn't use any of the towns shops but there are lots of roadside fruit stalls there and the locals are really friendly .

The reason we keep coming back to Naseby is because it has so much for us to do. We enjoy walking and eating, the Royal Hotel especially and being in places that have a sense of history and are unspoiled. There is an all year curling rink, tennis courts, a swimming dam and kids can ride their bikes or go to the playground without worrying about busy roads etc. People are friendly and nothing feels hectic or rushed. My children (all grown now) came here in their school holidays, and now they are bringing their children

Not that much in Millers Flat itself - although Fagans Cafe is well worth a stop - however Millers Flat provides an excellent base for exploring the rest of the area whether that be the cycle trail, or fishing on the Clutha or Lake Onslow.

Nothing to not like about Central Otago, Biking is superb with Gold Trails, Dunstan Trail and Rail Trail all at your fingertips. Great cafe and restaurants in Clyde such as The Post Office and Olivers and The Court House in Alexandra.
