- From $128.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 256 reviewsAbsolutely outstanding! We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Breakers Motel, and the warmth and hospitality of our hosts was so appreciated (especially after our arrival logistics went amok with a large storm and road closures). We were delighted with our room (#13, tucked away with lots of privacy but still walkout right to the swimming pool). Room amenities were great, they’ve thought if everything, including even a large clothes drying rack to be able to hang dry if needed. Nice and quiet and very walkable to the downtown area and the beaches…just fabulous!Guest review byKimCanada
- From $84.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 921 reviewsWe found the property to be a great layout and safe especially for our kids. The cabins were clean and not outdated at all. Staff are so friendly and helpful! Location was handy to the beach and not far from the main town. This is the first time we visited Waihi Beach and hopefully it won’t be the last! We loved our time away there even with the rain!Guest review byWilliamNew Zealand
- From $79.05 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 1,265 reviewsThe service was phenomenal!! The park staff went above and beyond to help us when our car battery was flat, trying with two battery pack chargers and then a car when necessary. We were in a real pickle when we visited the beach and yet again our car battery was flat and the staff were so kind in helping us ensuring we had a smooth journey home.Guest review byCharlotteNew Zealand

Whitianga is a lovely town and felt more relaxed than Whangamata but had all the facilities you would need. The coastline around the area is just ridiculously beautiful. Whitianga was a great base to explore from. I would happily go for another visit.Guest review byDebraAustralia - 10.0
Town's friendliness. The town cat, Helen Clark.
Town's friendliness. The town cat, Helen Clark. The main hotel, pub with its history and well priced Aperol Spritz. The 2 restaurants we went to plus the fish and chip shop. The nearby secluded bays and beaches. The train up the hill.Guest review byCarlosNew Zealand - 10.0

At this time of the year it was pretty quiet but we had our 2 granddaughters with us and the slow pace was nice. We ate at the RSA and everybody enjoyed their meal We stayed at the Tasman Holiday Park - Waihi Beach and it had a lot of facilities for the people.Guest review byArthur JohnNew Zealand - 10.0

Thames sure has improved since we were last time several years ago with regard to the town centre. Some great shops. Good Pak n Save supermarket. Waterfront is attractive and trip up the coast to Coromandel is fantastic - gorgeous NZ sceneryGuest review byJenniferNew Zealand - 10.0
Hahei is a cute little place, ideal for a 2 night stay.
Hahei is a cute little place, ideal for a 2 night stay. Hahei has a beautiful beach and you are also very close to Cathedral Cove and Hot Water beach so it’s a great location. Both these spots are a must when you are visiting Hahei. We walked to Cathedral Cove from our apartment. It took us about 40 min and is a pretty steep incline for the first half of the walk but worth it for the views. We took the water taxi back from the cove to Hahei which was a quick but very fun trip. Hot Water beach is a unique experience. Take your shovel and be sure to check when low tide is before you make the trip over there. The Pour House in Hahei is a great spot to sit and have a drink outside. Their pizzas and fish & chips are also great. There are several other spots for breakfast and coffee too that are also great.Guest review byJulieUnited States - 10.0

My weekend trip in Whangamata was fantastic, I honestly wished I had gotten to stay longer since it's such a lovely town. The beach, which is great for surfing and walks, is a huge part of the town, so staying near it is important. Whanga Bar Surf Views, where I stayed, had perfect beach access so I'd highly recommend that home.Guest review byReilly - 10.0

We love kayaking in the estuary and up Pepe Stream, boogie boarding in the ocean, and coffees at the cafes. We always visit Kaore Bay (Sailors Grave) up the road as you have trees to sit under, the surf beach and the estuary for kids to play in all in the one spot. There are plenty of bushwalking tracks if that is your thing, and the locals are all really friendly. Tairua is an ideal destination for families.Guest review byTaniaNew Zealand - 8.0

We tried to get to Hotwater beech, but were slightly late for low tide and could not stay longer for the evening one. We did not expected to spend long time for digging a hole for ourselves as we didn't have a shovel and we heard that place could be very overcrowded. So it was mainly a quick glance on the popular spot :) But we enjoyed another sightseeings nearby.Guest review byIuriiNew Zealand - 10.0
It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach.
It's a beautiful town with an awesome beach. It's close to other towns, so you can make day trips to Whitianga, Matamata, Tauranga, Coromandel, Te Puke, etc. We went to an animal farm, had a beach day, and took a train ride. There are lots of options to eat out, but be aware that the "nightlife" shuts down by 9 p.m.Guest review bySueNew Zealand - 8.0
Pauanui is a very pleasant area.
Pauanui is a very pleasant area. It was very quiet while we were there, despite the presence of many classic cars there for the Whangamata Beach Hop. The Cabana restaurant is a great spot for coffee, pastries and take-away pizza.Guest review byIanAustralia
