- From $253.35 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 204 reviewsWe loved our stay at Ratatnui Lodge - the staff was so accommodating to anything and everything we needed. The rooms were very comfortable; outdoor jacuzzi (needed to be cleaned but still nice) and pool area were a great bonus. Included breakfast was amazing and I had the delicious blueberry pancakes both days. Dinner and Bar/Drinks were also exceptional. Location is great for exploring the north and west side of Abel Tasman. We planned to take a water taxi to the east side but the road was closed to due slips (not a problem we did that on our way out from the east side of the park). Room included basics such as tea and coffee - robes included for relaxing. Truly this was one of our favorite places we stayed. Staff helped us coordinate our activities and when we had to cancel one due to the road being out they made sure we got our refund. Amazing stay!!!Guest review bySaraUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very Good - What previous guests thought, 230 reviewsThe Sandcastle is in a super location 10 mins walk to the lovely Pohara beach. We arrived early and had a nice welcome from owner Steve. The accomodation was spacious and had everything we needed - the gardens and setting are lovely. It was a great place to stay and we felt very lucky to meet Steve and hear about how he came to live there. He invited us to join in a pizza evening with homemade pizza dough and the pizza oven in the garden and we ate pizza with other guests and had a great evening. It's not a modern place but it's a very special place and we were made so welcome. We will remember our time in Pohara and Thank you SteveGuest review bypatUnited Kingdom
- From $127.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 416 reviewsEclectic little cluster of 4 chalets well maintained right outside of Tanaka (short 1 km walk on paved trail into town). Wonderful, welcoming owners who see after everything with great detail. Originally booked here because Kaiteriteri over the hill had nothing left, but would stay in Golden Bay again in heart beat. Nice drive to Totaranui on easy gravel road to take water taxi to Abel Tasman.Guest review byEricUnited States
- From $105.35 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 253 reviewsWe loved our room here. We did have the two bedroom apartment and it was so spacious and comfortable. It’s such a sweet touch that they offer you milk for your morning coffee in a little jug. The location is fantastic. You can walk into town in a couple minutes. The town is awesome. Several wonderful coffee shops with delicious food and lots of hippie vibes stores.Guest review byJoUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 88 reviewsThis may have been the most beautiful place we've ever stayed. The huge windows facing the water...allowing you to see the beauty from the bedroom, living room, dining room/kitchen were fabulous. The commitment to recycling was great. The outdoor tub....looking over the hills and water (with a glass of wine in hand)...was a piece of heaven.Guest review byKimberleyUnited States

Takaka is a fantastic location that gives good access to beaches all around the area, and the lovely Pupu Springs and Farwell Spit. The people in the town were lovely and friendly. We had the best vegetarian burgers, even better than our Ferg burgers from Queenstown! We all felt so safe and just enjoyed our time there. The drive over the Takaka Hill was a great experience, both in the misty rain and in beautiful sunshine.Guest review byTaemaro TravellerNew Zealand - 10.0
We love this beach - especially in winter!
We love this beach - especially in winter! It is also very close to some special places - Tata and Ligar Beaches, the Wainui Falls, the Grove Reserve and more - always something new to discover. Molly Bs is to be reccommended…and the cafes of Takaka are not far away.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0

Collingwood and out lying areas have some spectacular scenery with very unique environments not found in other places of the world. If you want to learn some history about early NZ, this little place has bits of information signposted everywhere so forget about guessing who found the place or what kept the inhabitants there. Even the journey there from Nelson was interesting with multiple towns and side trips like Mapua, the entrance to the Abel Tasman Track, Kaiteriteri Beach, Pohara and Waipupu Springs walk which was wonderful, just to mention a couple of things we did.Guest review byChristine - 8.0
There are many places of interest near Parapara.
There are many places of interest near Parapara. Collingwood and Farewell Split are a few kilometers up the road. The other way, is Takaka, with its many shops and restaurants and Pohara. Beaches are close by.Guest review byALANNew Zealand - 10.0
We loved the north end of the beach, tata.
We loved the north end of the beach, tata. Lovely and sheltered, and very safe for kids to swim or play on rocks. Very friendly golden bay kayak company, to hire kayaks for a morning. Takaka was also a lovely town to walk around, good food, coffee, gifts and a market was on Saturday. Other than this, our time was too short in the area.Guest review byalettaNew Zealand - 10.0
Great spot near Takaka but in a natural setting.
Great spot near Takaka but in a natural setting. Comfortable studio unit with kitchen, dining lounge & bed all open plan. Well fitted out for a couple wanting a rustic retreat, The hosts Fiona and Frederick were superb . They presented the place in pristine condition and were very responsive when needed. Really tranquil & peaceful place with good flow in and out..Guest review byMurrayNew Zealand - 10.0

Great beach, and more good beaches nearby.
Great beach, and more good beaches nearby. Quiet summer holiday location that was still buzzing (in late Jan) with holiday-makers and had the comforts you might relish (local choices for bar & cafe & shop for groceries). A great place for a summer vacation.Guest review byMajor - 8.0

There is great scenery to be seen and some good walks nearby. Wharariki Beach is a favourite. Very dramatic rock formations, sea, sand dunes and seals. The Langford store is worth going to. Nice women with lovely homemade things to eat, drink and buy. Good collectables if that's what you like. Quirky and full of character. It is handy to longer and very scenic walks like Abel Tasman and Heaphy. I think some increased range of eating for vegetarians would be good. The Court House Cafe is particularly good for daytime food and coffee. The general store has most of what you need at reasonable prices. The Takaka Hill is a nice drive as long as you are a careful driver. Some clearly are not. Great views.Guest review byGeoffNew Zealand
