Te Anau is a beautiful town, set on the shores of a lake, with close access to Milford and Doubtful Sounds. The main shopping centre offers lots of different restaurants and take away options. There is also a big supermarket for supplies. There is a lovely gift shop in Te Anau, as well.9Guest review byNarelle PattersonAustralia - 10.0
I found Invercargill an interesting place.
I found Invercargill an interesting place. You wouldn't call it a pulsing metropolis but it is very pleasant. I particularly enjoyed the city's older architecture and it is a good base for exploring further out. The people were very friendly also.Guest review byBevanNew Zealand - 10.0

I was in Gore for the Tussock Country Festival and the Gold Guitars. I had a great time, the various events were very enjoyable and the people very friendly. Plenty of choice for dining out and shopping, plus the Eastern Southland Gallery is a "must-see".Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We drove our hire car from Queenstown and stayed just the one night as we had a Tour booked the next day on the boat. We enjoyed the drive and the stunning scenery on our trip to Milford Sound; however, if you are short on time, you can FLY straight out and do the Boat cruise in half a day. If you drive down- it's an ALL-DAY event and that is why we opted to stay overnight and travel back to Queenstown the next day. There is only a CAFE in the town for quick food and coffee etc... There were limited places to pull up on the trip to have a meal. Lots of scenery and a long drive but enjoyable if you like car trips?Guest review byKARENAustralia - 8.0

Tranquil town away from the touristy hubbub of Te Anau but within range to catch the tour to Milford Sound. The Church restaurant served excellent meals at a reasonable price. Probably best suited to tours to Doubtful Sounds, but we did not mind the 20 minute drive to Te Anau.Guest review byLesCanada - 8.0

The township of Oban is the place to find out most info, access e-bikes and get details of walks, kiwis, trips to places such as Ulva Island. It’s the central township for the island. Glad it has a four square, friendly people at the Doc site. Butterfield Bay is gorgeous.Guest review byDenise TimsNew Zealand - 10.0

A 9min drive from Invercargill it was the right choice for us. We found the cabin & facilities excellent. Invercargill was extremely underwhelming for us so we're so glad we chose to stay close to the beach which was very cool! There is a 4 square, a cafe/restaurant very close to the accommodationGuest review byTePaniaAustralia - 10.0

Travellers just need to be aware that Niagara Falls is a joke, but it is a lovely place to stay. Possibly, Curio Bay around the corner would be a more spectacular place to stay, but Niagara is only a short driving distance away. We used Niagara as our base to get to Invercargill, after travelling from Dunedin. We spend a day visiting Mclean falls, unfortunately Cathedral Cave was closed.Guest review byAAustralia - 10.0
What a delightful little town!
What a delightful little town! The glow worm caves were an absolute highlight, especially with the stunning waterfall inside—such a magical experience. The town is clean, walkable, and full of charming little shops and scenic walks. Plus, the grocery store was top-notch for anything you might need. I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem!Guest review byElaineCanada
