OmanKoofan heritage house is amazing! It was built in 1880 and it retains its traditional character. It is built of thick stone and decorated in traditional furniture. It has modern conveniences such as air conditioning and fully functioning plumbing but still retains an old feel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. However, if you are looking for luxury like a Hilton please don’t come here. It is for someone who wants a taste of the past. You eat a traditional breakfast in the morning across from the old fort and really get to know the employees. You get to meet the owner and feel like you are staying as a guest at his house.

It's an amazing location right at the edge of Jabal Samhan, with breathtaking views over the lower lands down the cliff and the city of Mirbat, which magically lights up in the distance at night. Probably the only hotel in the region or even the country at a location like this one.

Cozy cottages on a stunningly huge white sand beach. Very quiet and peaceful environment with friendly and accommodating staff. My husband and I would most definitely return… the atmosphere here is in our opinion so much nicer than at a conventional beach resort (such as the Hilton etc).

Salalah and especially the surrounding mountains contain a...
Salalah and especially the surrounding mountains contain a unique environment with magical natural views. But, if you want to see the lush green landscapes and waterfalls, make sure to come in the correct monsoon season known as khareef, which is during the summer months. Once the rains stop, the waterfalls dry up and the lush greenery turns dry and yellow. I came in November, which is a perfect time for nature photography as there is no rain to damage the camera and nature is still very alive, but all waterfalls had already completely dried up and the lush greenery was gone. The region, like the entire country, is very safe, with friendly and helpful people.

the beaches are spectacular, the location is really perfect if you look for a quite and familiar place. Everyone is friendly and helpful. the surrundings are stunning and the trip is aboslutely worth it.
There are several resorts in the area but they are very decent and not invasive.

I liked almost everything, it’s not overcrowded like other destinations in the Middle East. Loved the Geography, dramatic coast line, mountains, beautiful beaches, lush green areas in East and of course the desert.
Would be a great area to hire a motor home to explore, think the region lends itself to this, I believe this would attract tourists! Maybe a weekly flight direct from London with Oman Air but at the same time would hate the country to be spoilt by tourism.
