Funky surfer world with good restaurants.
Funky surfer world with good restaurants. Feels like real Panama. Pleasant and relaxing except for the last 20k driving on the rough gravel road under heavy construction (Feb 2025). Once finished it will be great. Difficult drive at dusk and after dark with people on horseback. No gas station in town so be sure to fill up when on Hwy 5 in Sona or at the one Delta station about 1/2 way to Santa Catalina.Guest review byEnzo MMUnited States - 4.0
Santiago is NOT a vacation spot.
Santiago is NOT a vacation spot. I had to be there for work and there was absolutely nothing to do outside of my hotel. It was all strip malls and fast food chains and 2-3 hours to the closest beach. That said, the people are very kind and happy, but not much to see or do there.Guest review byNoelleUnited States - 10.0
Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village.
Santa Fe is a low key ordinary village. We liked it for its lack of frills. There's a Danish run pizza place and a couple of coffee shops (we didn't go to either just saw them). The rest is normal Panamanian stuff, 2 mini Supermarkets and a few cafes with typical Panamanian food. There are rivers and waterfalls to bathe in but all except one would need a car (or bike) to get to. I'd say it was a one horse town except we saw 3 wandering about! The scenery is fantastic, so many different trees and so many hills. The road to the coast is finished and is lovely and smooth. There's a restaurant at the end of the road for lunch. The road from Santiago gets better as you get along it but takes 1.5 to 2 hours for the 35 miles to Santa FeGuest review byJacquieUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I liked it very much but I wouldn't call it an ecotourism place as if you look beside the building up the hill they burn all their garbage cans glass and everything and bury it. Not to eco-friendly but I suppose most of Panama does that if they can. It is very calm and quiet they take dogs and the gardens are beautiful and the pool is beautiful and I wish I owned it myself except for the garbage part hahaGuest review byAnonymous - 10.0
The area is stunning. Do want to go back.
The area is stunning. Do want to go back. Great area for a getaway from the city and enjoy nature for few days. Feel very safe there. Great place to take children for nature lessons. The bird watching opportunities great. It was rainy season but still enjoyed area. Just a couple of days for old ladies is just right.Guest review bySarahFinland - 10.0

The hostal is situated just next to the beach. At nights you can walk at the beach and enjoy the fabulous stars. The staff could support me with all my demands and even helped me out with my future travel route. I definitely recommend this place to stay a few days. Is you surf, you must stop by.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Plenty to do for everyone's taste: shopping mall (huge one) a stone's throw from the hotel. A short drive from the hotel you have the city center. There are huge possibilities for hiking in nature and visiting national parks. The only drawback is that there is traffic all day long anywhere you go but it is too hot to cycle or walk!Guest review bySolPerezNorway - 10.0
Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama.
Santa Fé is a beautiful mountain town in western Panama. It's located in a valley bordered by mountains which form part of an impressive natural reserve north of the town. The town itself appears to be easy-going and quiet —save for the odd bar— but the focus of the place is elsewhere: the very diverse ecosystems that exist all around it, from river habitats to cloud forests. You can either scale bare mountains and take in breathtaking views or go deep into the jungle and see unique wildlife, and the trails go as far as you may like. The area is also known for its organic farming and the town has played an important part in the history of Panama.Guest review byAlfonsoPanama - 10.0
Cari and her husband treated us like royalty.
Cari and her husband treated us like royalty. My wife is celiac and they went the extra-mile so she could eat without any worries to get sick on the trip. Cari made sure all of our details were perfect, and that we had an awesome time on their facility. They loaned us some buggy boards and they kids just loved the experience. Overall, this was a perfect family vacations. Even the kids had their own interesting experience on an nearby island where Cari and husband buried a "treasure" and left the map for the kids. That completed their trip on a very high note! Food was amazing, and they made sure we knew how the different ingredients were gathered. We humbly thank Cari and her husband, because they possess a quality rarely seen in the tourism industry in Panama: They are hospitable and care that the client experience the best time while being hosted. Hope to see you soon again!Guest review byDanPanama
