There are free time slots for the indoor spa pool which was incredible and a lovely little gym too. Staff are fantastic, very helpful. I asked for a hairdryer and was sent straight to my room on both visits. Breakfast, though a little pricier than other places in the area, is absolutely worth it. You will have to learn how to "use" Albufeira in order to have a good time here (if you are over 30)! The town is catering to the very young, primarily UK crowd, that are heavy drinkers in cheap and less then average bars (with excessively loud bad music). Stay away from the 'main' areas and you will be able to find good restaurants where you can have a relaxing meal. I was not able to locate any cocktail lounges that would have had available a good mixed drink and some background music. Sort of like a small version of Times Square in NYC, you can get ripped off very easily if you do not conduct due diligence. It is quiet and picturesque.
It is quiet and picturesque. The beach surprised us as it was very good, empty and big and clean. Good variety of places to eat and drink. Amazing beach’s avoid town center even if close to beautiful beaches that are stunning memories of true Algarve but the city itself is very poor , ugly and just a nonsense buildings old to new mixed with no likely or history and cultural care. Great place plenty of things to do around the area ,5 golf courses for those who wish to play. Sailing trips are plentiful with many water sports near bye, crazy golf and a great water park. Great beach where you can rent umbrellas and sun lounges with option of half or full day at 25 euros a day for an umbrella with 2 loungers 15 euros half a day. Also plenty of of beach bars, personally favourite was Marisa as a little quieter. Best restaurants in my opinion Steaks and grilles Haven, Chinese Tai Tai, Indian Ghandi, Italian Capriccio, The small train is great for getting around and very cheap. Tavira is a lovely town with access to several beaches. There are plenty of great restaurants, bars and ice cream parlours. Shopping is great with plenty of variety from independent shops. Aljezur is a great location to visit if you like nature, surfing, good food, a slower pace of life. I would recommend staying in Aljezur, getting a car to drive around to different beaches and villages where you can find good restaurants. Amazing place lots of restaurants and bars but it is all spaced out if you have good legs this is no problem. Of course you can hire a car and drive out at night but if you want to drink you need to walk as we didn't see 1 taxi on our 9 night stay. Find accommodation near to Mareta beach as that's about central. Very young area lots of fit surfing people day and night which is great. There are 3 beaches within walking distance Tonel is the one for surfing if you can do!! Mareta beach is the nicest of the 3. There are many more you can drive to. The fort is interesting.
