Gorgeous spa hotel in the Dao wine region. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms with a natural, Zen-like decor and ambiance. Spa facilities are very nice and welcoming there are many services offered. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant both nights. Elevated Portuguese cuisine well prepared and served. Excellent wine list and the servers are able to suggest the perfect pairing for your meal. Nelas is a small quiet town about an hour’s drive to the Serra da Estrela. Perfect place to stay to relax and enjoy nature. Lovely staff.

A very special place. Ventozelo left us a wonderful feeling of nature and belonging. The hotel is super classy, nicely decorated and with nice well thought details. The breakfast is World class: been to Dubai, New York, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan (lived here), London and currently live in Seattle, and did not have better than this super tasty breakfast. The infinite swimming pool and corresponding is breathtaking.

Check-in was smooth, but make sure to check your messages before arriving to provide an ETA of arrival. The room was clean and modern in feel. Bedding soft, sheets/towels clean. There's an area to relax with comfortable chairs downstairs. I was provided with a place to put my bicycle, and it felt secure. Breakfast was a full spread of eggs, ham, multiple breads, cake, jams, etc. Overall, I highly recommend if in Trancoso!

I really loved this city and became impressed with how clean and safe it felt, as a young woman. I really want to visit this city again. Can’t say that for most of the cities in Portugal but Viseu was just so charming.

    Nice and modern hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. Nice restaurant with a view on the hill. We also enjoyed the indoor heated pool. The hotel is located in an area of cheap apartment buildings and the surroundings are not enjoyable. Seen from the outside, the hotel is also ugly, except from the outside swimming pool area.

The city’s compact layout is perfect for wandering, though the hills reward every step with breathtaking views. The cathedral stands at Guarda’s heart, with its towers offering sweeping vistas over red rooftops and winding alleys. Nearby, the castle and medieval tower are silent keepers of centuries gone by, each providing a unique perspective of the land below. If time permitted, the wild peaks of Serra da Estrela would beckon nature lovers and hikers with their rugged beauty and scenic trails—a promise for another day. Evenings bring culinary delight: Simple.Guarda offers outstanding Italian cuisine, while charming cafes invite guests to linger over coffee and pastries.     Breathtaking views. The area is stunning and so peaceful.

    Breathtaking views. The area is stunning and so peaceful. We drove into some of the small villages and the locals were so friendly. We prefer to eat away from the tourist areas and we were not disappointed in this area. The food was fresh and tasty and very reasonable.

    Seia is a nice little city with plenty of cultural sites, restaurants, and shops. In general people are very nice and welcome visitors. Nature surrounding the city are beautiful and there are many short and long hiking trails around.

    We left a day early because the town is quite remote and we were keen to move on. We are on a month long tour of Portugal though so a day didn’t make much difference to us. There isn’t much to do in Manteigas itself. Having said that, the guide in the local tourist office is exceptionally helpful and very knowledgeable about the region. There are some beautiful views as you drive in and out of the town.

    The general feeling is very good, mainly concerning SPA and corresponding facilities. The negative point is practical impossibility to speak in English with staff. It was not correct ROOM SERVICE, time wise and quality wise. There is a need to have a charging station for electric cars. Anyway we will recommend the hotel for sure!

    The Quinta de Sao Luiz, where we were staying, made a reservation for us at a restaurant in Tabuaco. The drive to the restaurant was challenging due to the serpentine road and rainy weather. I don't think there was much to do in that small town, but we had an okay experience at the restaurant.

    The region is famous for the prehistorick art on rocks depicting animals 20,000 or more years ago, but there is also a profusion of medieval castles around and cultural sites. For lovers of good wine it is also an excellent visit, the north style of food is marvellous and all is very quiet. Some roads are a bit narrow if you want to go to remote pleces... I suggest to visit with time and go visit the small places, enjoy the quiet, the occasional wild animals, and take some time to hear the local people's stories.

    The town is the administrative centre for a group of villages, with a museum, town hall and the usual shops, including three large supermarkets. Tondela is spread along a steep hill on Route N2. There is access to the Ecopista da Dao cycleway which stretches for 48 km along a former railway track, now asphalted. Nearby is the remarkable Museu do Caramulo with a wonderful collection of historic and classic cars and motorcycles.
