- From $111.41 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 159 reviewsThis is a cute small bed and breakfast. Our room was clean with excellent air conditioner. It’s located in the small town area by the ocean. The ferry is very close and in walking distance. We took it to Pico to spend the day. The breakfast is nice with various breads and local cheeses which I love. There is also fresh fruit… coffee and tea. The tourist office is nearby and they offered various tour guides. The cute parks nearby have WiFi as well as the hotel. There is a natural swimming pool very close by as well. I think this is an excellent choice hotel for this island.Guest review byEvaUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 178 reviewsBeautifully landscaped and modern, comfortable furnishings. Each casita has big sliding glass doors onto their own private patio with views across to the island of Pico. Also the breakfast included amazing homemade breads, jams, yogurt, and juices and eggs from their own fruit trees and chickens - not to mention freshly made waffles - so delicious! The staff were so kind and helpful, and it was only a 6-minute walk into the little town where there were a couple restaurants and a small grocery store. We can’t wait to return!Guest review byKathrynUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 110 reviewsGreat 4 night stay for 2 couples spending 3 weeks in the Azores. Peaceful location was out of town, requiring drives to get to restaurants and grocery. We were touring the island by car, so this was no problem. Our only problem was realizing we were to call Carlos (card on the door) to get in! He lives off site, but provided a nice daily breakfast and was very responsive and eager to offer advise and answer questions. We enjoyed use of the washing machine and the kitchen for a couple simple dinners.Guest review byCurtisSlovenia
- From $83.85 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.9Good - What previous guests thought, 643 reviewsThis is a really amazing place and we wish we could have stayed longer! Our bungalow had a beautiful sea view and you could see Pico from it; the terrace is a great place to sit and have a coffee while enjoying the nature. The bungalow has everything you needed to stay for weeks. Many thanks to the owner (Filipe) who was extremely helpful and gave us great tips on what to see, do, and where to eat. If we are back in São Jorge, we will definitely choose to stay there!Guest review byAndréGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 193 reviewsWe visited several islands in the Azores and Sao Jorge was our favorite. Aldeia da Encosta is a lovely property and Gisela and her husband were kind and generous hosts. As others have said, the location is on a steep hill; everything on Sao Jorge is on a steep hill; that's what makes it beautiful. The view high above the town is breathtaking. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare simple meals. Everything was clean and tidy.Guest review byDeborahUnited States

Tables scattered throughout the property for a secluded breakfast surrounded by cool plants a flowers. Staff was soooo awesome. They heard we were leaving early and would miss breakfast and they packed us lunch baggies to eat in the road. Amazing place I hope to come backGuest review byPatrickUnited States

Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do.
Velas was a nice quite town. There is lots to see and do. Great hotels and friendly staff. There is a "pool" downtown at the seawall within the ocean due to rocks that have been placed, so you can swim. They have a stage where artists and singers can perform. Lots of cute shops with great merchansie to purchase, with easy streets to walk through. Lots of cobbled stones, so wear comfortable shoes. Great restaurants down cute little streets and lots of friendly people who want to help you regardless if you can speak portuguese or not.Guest review byPamelaUnited States - 10.0

They have paid attention to every little detail, from an amazing organic breakfast to kettle and kitchen towels in the room. Really an exemplary farm stay experience!! Not to mention the two lovely doggies and the donkey.Guest review byPeeterEstonia - 6.0
Beautiful ocean view. Big quiet rooms.
Beautiful ocean view. Big quiet rooms. Nice leisure area in front of the apartment. Friendly staff. Breakfast was very poor. The coffee was not drinkable. The juice came from the machine and had an unnatural taste. And they charged extra money for the breakfast. It wasn't worth it. Inside pool definitely needs an update. Outside pool was very nice.Guest review byMiaEstonia - 10.0
Stunning place, perfect for a break away from the city.
Stunning place, perfect for a break away from the city. The hiking trails are nice, and you can witness both sunset and sunrise. No cars are allowed, so it's very quiet and peaceful. For those that like surfing, it offers good surfing, You can also kayak, SUP and so on! There are a couple of waterfalls nearby. It is quite isolated, with no cash machines and limited offers for food and drinks, but it is fine! Getting there can be a bit expensive. Get a taxi to the top of the mountain and hike down for a better experience. Or take a taxi to the Fajã dos Cubres, about a 5km hike away, which is also gorgeous.Guest review byJoanaPortugal - 10.0
The location is beautiful.
The location is beautiful. Proximity to the sea and beautiful greenery covering the steep cliffs. A surprise in the form of a coffee plantation with thousand of plants. The coffee is excellent. As a reminder, give the owner a note of your currency, he collects them, but you will see. It is necessary to have a car and good shoes for hiking. An amazing placeGuest review byJanCzech Republic - 10.0

The apartment was really modern compared to most places in the Azores. Great view with a large covered patio with a bbq which included charcoal and wood. There is a washer located on the covered patio. The rooms were spacious and all had AC. One of the rooms also had a loft with an additional sleeping area in addition to the main bed. Great location which was in walking distance to most of Velas and nearby by Boss Burger and a Chinese Restaurant.Guest review byKevinUnited States - 8.0
It is a very calm and serene place.
It is a very calm and serene place. Not much variety of outdoor activities. I am still happy I came and saw the lava natural pools, Faja do Santo Cristo and fajã do ouvidor. 2 nights was more than enough though.Guest review byTamerPortugal - 10.0

It's a magical place, if heaven exists on earth it's there! Definitely stay more than one day, and do trail down stay for a few days (if you love peace and quite) and exit by completing the trail until Fajã dos Cubres.Guest review byJoanaPortugal - 8.0
