Before you decide on what to visit specifically in Lisbon,...
Before you decide on what to visit specifically in Lisbon, consider a 48 hour Hop-on, Hop-Off bus tour. This is an excellent way to get your bearings and you will have time to go back and spend more time at the places that interest you.Guest review byPhil_16United Kingdom - 8.0
The biggest disappointment was purchasing an all day pass...
The biggest disappointment was purchasing an all day pass for two to ride the buses. We were out waiting for the bus early to get to our scheduled time at Pena and two buses stopped but would not make room for just the two of us to get on (no one else was at the stop). It was raining and we ended up having to hike up to Pena in a hurry to get to our time slot. I am still trying to get my purchase refunded as we were never able to ride the bus.Guest review byDaryl and SusanUnited States - 10.0

The main square in Cascais was great and a good meeting point. Loads of restaurants and shops up several streets of the main square. You can bike ride, walk, taxi or drive around. The taxis were good value. Our bike ride was one of my favourite things to do as you see so much and get your bearings. The marina was great too. It is close to Lisbon with a good train service and also to Sintra.Guest review byConnell - 10.0

Setubal is absolutely fabulous and I am so glad I decided to extend my trip at the last minute and add Setubal. It has a great vibe. Lovely cobblestone streets and colorful buildings. Shops and restaurants on every street. There's the water and beachfront. There are lots of lovely green spaces, parks and playgrounds and gardens. It really has everything and it feels very authentic. I loved it and would happily go back!Guest review byHeatherIreland - 10.0
The place for surfing, sun and beach life.
The place for surfing, sun and beach life. Several kilometers of gorgeous sandy beaches and nice waves, suitable also for the beginning surfers. All the necessary services are available. People are still friendly for tourists and most understand English or Spanish in addition to Portuguese. Lots of young people and families there, not just elderly.Guest review byMirjamiFinland - 10.0

Sesimbra is a hidden gem on Portugal’s coast -peaceful, charming, and full of natural beauty. The beaches are pristine, with golden sand and crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming or relaxing. The town offers delicious seafood, friendly locals, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. Whether you're hiking in the nearby Arrábida mountains, exploring the historic castle, or enjoying fresh fish by the sea, Sesimbra has something for everyone. It's a perfect escape from the crowds - authentic, scenic, and unforgettable.Guest review byRita AmzalakUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want...
Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want a relaxing break away. There are plenty of hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants but there isn’t a specific area or ‘strip’ of these, they are just dotted around. The casino and its garden are a dominant and attractive focal point so there are a few places near to it. There’s Portuguese food, of course, but also Italian, Chinese, Indian and Japanese. You can get fish and seafood dishes of any sort but there’s also lots of steak on offer. Prices are very reasonable. Some people travel in and out of the town specifically and solely to use the beach by day or the casino by night, some to attend events at the glamorous looking fort on the beach, so the town isn’t dead but it can feel quiet at certain times. It’s definitely a chilled out place to stay in. There are only a few local shops for groceries and not really any souvenir shops. In my opinion, it has more of a local, residential vibe and isn’t touristy. For a change of scene, by train Cascais is just a 5 minute ride away or Lisbon is about 40 minutes away. It’s great to visit either and then escape the crowds by returning to Estoril! There is currently a replacement bus service in operation after 9pm (not sure how easy that is to use) but at other times the trains are very frequent and inexpensive.Guest review byPaulaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Oeiras is a suburb of Lisbon, so not overwhelmed by tourists. We found some great places to eat that were appreciative of our custom. There was a fantastic vegan restaurant just outside the town centre (Alma Veg). The main problem for us was the ddual carriageway that passes right by the beaches.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Booked last minute on our travels. Loved it . Staff very helpful My only complaint would be that the hotel didn’t sell alcoholic beverages but it wasn’t a problem. A small bar 2 minutes away ( lovely) and Lidl next doorGuest review byJanetUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Montijo is a hidden gem that beautifully blends traditional charm with modern amenities. Nestled close to Lisbon yet far enough to offer a serene escape, this town captivates with its rich history, friendly locals, and stunning natural landscapes. The quaint streets, vibrant markets, and delicious local cuisine provide an authentic taste of Portuguese culture. Its proximity to the Tagus River offers picturesque views and opportunities for leisurely walks or boat rides. Montijo is also a gateway to beautiful farm stays, where you can experience the peaceful countryside and savor fresh, local produce. The town's relaxed pace and welcoming vibe make it perfect for unwinding, while its convenient location allows easy exploration of nearby attractions. Whether you’re seeking tranquility, cultural immersion, or a base for day trips, Montijo delivers an unforgettable experience. A true Portuguese treasure that leaves you wanting to return!Guest review byManishPortugal
