An amazing hotel. It truly has everything you could want, with a fresh, young, modern, and tech-savvy vibe where you can tell every detail was carefully planned. The facilities are top-notch: meeting rooms, work spaces, gym, laundry and ironing room, and much more. The rooftop is incredible, with a pool, bar, and fantastic atmosphere. The room is spacious, comfortable, clean, and has everything you need. And most importantly—the location. Simply the best location in Porto. The breakfast is truly wonderful.

Don’t be fooled by the 2 star rating. I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels that weren’t as impressive. The complimentary glass of White Port on arrival set the tone for things to come. The property has been freshly renovated and has a very modern and stylish aesthetic. Everything was spotless. The staff and owner were all fantastic, lovely to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast and check-in/out times are very generous. You don’t need to be up at 8am when you’re supposed to be on holiday! Location was perfect, in the historic district of Porto, practically beside the Douro. None of the major landmarks or quality restaurants that we visited required more than a 20 minute walk. The staff had some helpful suggestions of dining options and bars. Many great bars and restaurants are within just 5-10 minutes. The breakfast buffet at the hotel had great variety to suit any taste, with hot and cold options, fresh fruit and pastries. I think we benefited from an introductory price as the property was new to Booking.com, but would gladly return at the very reasonable full rate for the quality of experience (this is not a paid endorsement!). We enjoyed a week in the top floor duplex suite and the space and balcony were fantastic. I would absolutely recommend Ribeira Douro to any couples looking for a boutique hotel delight in Porto.

    The hotel is amazing The views are breathtaking, you basically wake up and see Douro valley right from your bed. They have Chefs restaurant in the hotel. Food there is very delicious, starters, main dishes and deserts. We tried a lot there and every dish was great. Also hotel has its own farm with various herbs, fruits and vegetables, that are used then in the restaurant. They also have very clean and relaxing SPA, which is free for hotel guests.

    Pet friendly accomodation was our key factor, also this feel of entire and fully equipped rural house gave a sense of how people live in this area. We got really hooked up by the chimney and setting up the fireplace. It's very remote from everything surrounded by the mountains. There is a bakery in the nearby Rouças village which is the only place where it's possible to buy bread. Everything else needs to purchased before coming here.

    Best experience I had staying in a hotel, I can't wait to come back. Everything was perfect and the hotel itself is so beautiful. The room was very spacious, comfortable, they even offer you a pillow menu so you can be as comfortable as possible. Every night they leave a tea table ready for you.     Room had dated brown furniture , not enough space between bed and dressing table I stubbed my toes twice. No kettle with tea and coffee in the room . I didn’t like the body gel sachets in the bathroom . It all felt a bit penny pinching from the hotel , it cost enough to warrant a coffee and a generous amount of body wash in the shower. The hotel was quiet and we had a good sleep ,comfy bed ,nice blinds. The location was the best thing ,didn’t have breakfast because we left before 5AM.

    Enjoyed walking around Guimarães, the castle is simple, and Palace of the Duques was a nice site to see, the city center was where I would have like to spend more time. It looks different than most of the cities I have seen in Portugal.

    Wonderful vistas and foresty locations. Incredible waterfalls, natural parks; an amazing marriage of civilsation and nature working together to form an unforgettable experience that leaves you wanting to come back for more. There's an uncountable assortment of things to see and do.

    Beach at Esposende too difficult to swim in due to pepples. Other beaches at Ofir and Apulia excellent. Limited supply of restaurants and limitless supply of banks!!! Surprised by the obvious wealth amongst the Portuguese people with holiday homes here. Very few estrangers. Not for sailors. Good for families. Some surprising sculptures dotted around the esplanade from 1997 one in particular near the San Lorenca fort at Esponsende.

    Lovely area close to so many beaches and shopping and restaurants. Transportation was very easy - bus/cable car/ Uber - so easy to get around. And walking very easy for any level of fitness.

    Not much to do, in my opinion there are much nicer places to visit. Nicer beaches with warmer water. Parking is a huge problem and the locals do not like even trying to communicate in English. I guess it depends what you like. Would definately rather visit Al Garve.
