Tavira is quite a small town, we stayed for 4 nights so it gave us 3 and a half days. At the time we went, there was a festival on which had 7 stages around the town with music and lots of craft stalls which was a bonus and gave us quite a bit more to do. If you just like to relax and soak up the sun then you need to get the boat to Tavira Island (2.60 € return), evenings I guess when the festival isn't on will be rather quiet.Guest review byDean66_UKUnited Kingdom - 8.0

One of the nicer areas I've visited in the Algarve. A few tourists about about not nearly as busy as Tavira, and as Olhao is a working fishing port, it still has that "local" feel to it. Decent esplanade adjacent to the harbour area although the only poor "rip-off" meal we had during our stay was along the front so my advice would be to go slightly inland where the quality of the food and value for money is a lot better. Nice and sunny during our stay but a bit windy so worth taking a jumper or fleece for the evenings. Best meals were at Piteu ds Baixa Mar, Taberna D'Olhao, Cafe Snack Domino and O Trevo. We tried quite a few of the restaurants and cafes that the area had to offer. The hot stone restaurant is fab but the portion's are huge! The kids portions are adult sized. The best place!
The best place! People in the area are so friendly, restaurants and beach bars are great and the sunsets are amazing! Area is good for walking, biking and driving around - you can also use Ubers! Fuseta was amazing.
Fuseta was amazing. Although only small there were lots of fabulous restaurants and coffee shops. We took a ferry to Fuzeta Island which was very affordable, and a great snack bar on the beach as you turn right off the boardwalk. Need a car!
Need a car! Our main interest was the beach which is great so didn't really want to travel around. Vale de Lobo itself has no interest . A lot of building going on obviously for foreign investors. If you want to experience the real flavour of Portugal , this isn't the place. As a beach holiday with kids , that is fine. Food is repetitive and ordinary. People are friendly, ubers are cheap. Everything was amazing we were family if 6 with baby and I was so worried how am I gina manage to wean the baby as he is on solid now I opened the cabinets I saw hand mixer and everything whatever you needed in a family home was available from dish washing liquid to salt and vinegar, I’m 100% going back and recommending this place 👌my kids love it and best part was the beach was just walking distance from our place it was lovely, April weather is absolutely amazing and latterly we eat grilled fish everyday from manta rota their roballo seabass and salmon was amazing with decent prices and also the supermarket was just around corner you can find everything 👌we really enjoyed our stay and time there thanks again Numar residence for providing the facility and guiding us aroundGuest review byZamUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Small and perfectly formed, good location for ferries to the Ria Formosa islands, and Praia Faro beach Cute little old town, good range of restaurants to satisfy all tastes, good transport to and from airport, train services to other towns along Algarve coast For boat trips go along to the yellow house further to the east of the marina and look for all the HOHO and ferry providers. Do not fall for the "group trips" by the central marina - there are many more much better value providers where the ferries depart from! The HOHO to the 3 islands for 35 euros is very good value, valid all day until the final ferry goes back to Faro, and great fun in the bright yellow RIB boats Just be aware that all pavements throughout the old town (sidewalks for the US readers) are all of very shiny stones, little cubes set into cement, which can be very slippery, and therefore not very accessible for those with mobility difficulties. However with a slowed walking pace, they are totally manageable, and obviously you can see more of the town at a slower walk!
