Located in Peso da Régua and with Douro Museum reachable within 400 metres, Original Douro Hotel offers a terrace, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a shared lounge. The rooms are quite minimalist but that was actually very comforting. Staff was terrific, very helpful with our plans. Breakfast was excellent. Location is very convenient.
Offering an outdoor pool and children's playground, Colmeal Countryside Hotel is located in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo in the Centro Region, 50 km from Ciudad-Rodrigo. Fantastic countryside hotel in a restored, abandoned village. This is not an area with a lot of nightlife,.you come here for tranquility and nature. Thankfully the restaurant is very good, otherwise it is a bit of a drive to nearby towns and restaurants.
Perched on a mountain top with panoramic views, Delfim Douro offers luxury accommodation with private balconies overlooking the Douro River. Bed comfy, food was beautiful, drinks made well.
The luxurious Wine House Hotel in Lamego, in the heart of the Douro region, is surrounded by extensive private grounds with vineyards. Our room was large and the bed really comfortable. The food was excellent and all the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Surrounded by the beautiful vineyards of Quinta do Pégo, Hotel Rural Quinta do Pégo is a modern 4-star hotel with an outdoor pool and stunning views of Douro Valley. Everything, since you step inside everything looks perfect, the view, the valley, the rooms are just outstanding, king size bed, bathtub, all new to the highest standard. The staff is really helpful, we had a great wine tasting of Port wines with a bit of history of Quinta do Pego. Breakfast is also really good with fresh made food and juice.
Set on the banks of the Douro River and overlooking beautiful natural scenery, Hotel Casa do Tua offers air-conditioned rooms with a TV. It features an outdoor pool with far-reaching views. We booked the apartment with balcony and it was just wonderful. It is in a seperate smaller house next to the hotel and really offers everything you need: It is spacious and clean, offers a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed - and a wonderful balcony with stunning views!!
Situated in a former 18th-century wine estate, this luxury hotel overlooks vineyards and the Douro Valley. Every room has a stunning view. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were lovely, the common areas were comfortable and beautiful.
Set on a hill boasting views of the terraced vineyards of the UNESCO World Heritage Douro valley and the Douro River, this newly renovated 19th century manor house offers guests therapeutic spa... Excellent service, great wine bar and tastings. Huge modern rooms. Outdoor pool and terrace to enjoy and relax make a lot of fun. SPA area super mice to relax and swim and a variety of treatments and massages. Good access to wineries in the nearest area and interesting spots to visit.
Surrounded by vineyards, Hotel Douro Scala offers air-conditioned rooms with a balcony overlooking Cidadelhe’s mountains. It has a spa with a heated indoor pool, private treatment rooms, and a hot... Beautiful building with great welcome and facilities wish we had booked to stay longer. All staff quiet friendly and efficient.
Miracorgo is situated in Vila Real’s historic centre and offers a panoramic restaurant with views of the Corgo River. Garage is really good, Room balcony has superb view over gorge. Full length bath a real bonus. Restaurant dinner was very good. Value for money. We have now stayed over 6 times and are never disappointed.

The site is a little tucked away but we found it easily with the assistance of our satnav. Staff are enthusiastic and courtiers and really go out of their way to please clients/guests. The owner Inez has prepared lots of little maps and information pieces so that people will have a good idea what to do during their time in the Douro Valley and also she was on hand to personally advise clients. There is a nice little tapas hour in the evening from 7 PM to 8 PM where guests can meet and chat to other guests. There is a nice restaurant called Chaxilla about 10 minutes safe walk away from the property which has enough variety in the menu to keep you going for at least two three evenings and service here also is very pleasant and value for money excellent. The breakfast is nice and consists of plenty of fruit, breakfast cake, bread and jam butter, eggs, ham yoghurts, home-made cereal, plenteous coffee so it probably works well for most tastes. There are some rooms in the environs of the main house but we stayed in a lodge - there were various lodges scattered around the property and these lodges were comfortable and well equipped with excellent bathroom facilities and also either a front or back terrace and also a kitchenette. There is an honesty shop where you can buy wine, cold meats, coffee for the Nespresso maker which is in your lodge.

The night walk is worth going for alone. It is into the middle of the mountains by car to see Paleolithic rock drawings which are awe-inspiring and the night sky a rare and wonderful experience. Don't miss this. Ana's knowledge and understanding enhances this. The breakfasts were fantastic with a little extra treat each morning. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I had a room all on its own with a small but beautiful enclosed garden. The swimming pool was a bonus and had the most amazing uninterrupted views. Ana was so helpful and informative, though not at all intrusive. The ecological culture of Casa de Cisterna is to be recommended and is an integral part of all they stand for. I can't recommend it highly enough.

A giant sprawling estate that you could tour on foot. The dinner on site in their restaurant is a must but you do have to book ahead. It's a 3 course meal made with fresh produce and made with passion for classic Portuguese food. Absolutely incredible. The breakfast spread was equally impressive. We even had time to play a short game of tennis on the on-site courts. I wish we stayed longer. The villa was very spacious and I think the bathroom itself could double as another sleeping room - it was that big! It was dead quiet and you're guaranteed to get a good night's sleep.

We've been here on June 16th-18th. Beautiful authentic place, the owners are kind and very hospitable people, cozy and absolutely clean renovated rooms with bathroom, tastfully furnished atmospheric old house with the history; stunning view from the pool; peaceful and quiet. Tasty fresh breakfast and of course brilliant wine and port wine offered by the owner. We'd checked the surroundings and didn't find anything that could be better than this place though there are lots of properties for rent.

The quinta is set in a stunning location at the convergence of the Douro and the Tedo (I think!) rivers. It is a wonderful place to stay for a few days but unfortunately we were only there for one night. We had interesting tapas for lunch in the restaurant and a lovely breakfast seated at a long table with other guests. Loved the wine tour and the tasting. Highly recommended.

The room was fabulous. Light, fancy and really big. The shower had a bigger size than usual and Molton Brown care products. We had a tour round the vineyard, the cellar and all facilities. Our host, Andrea, was very kind and helpful and explained everything in detail. The portwines were really good. We could also taste some other varieties than offered in the tasting itself.

The room was really spacious. It has a balcony where I can see the mountain. It's very pleasant. Staff are helpful and speak good English. It's especially convenient if anyone is planning to go from the hotel to the famous Casa de Mateus as the bus stop to the Casa is just outside the hotel. I sure will stay there again whenever I come back to Vila Real.

On outskirts of town, very efficient reception parking bar lifts wifi shower and in October extremely good value. There are two bars out of the hotel and 200yds to the left on a roundabout that do excellent food and wine at give away prices so unless you're a real foody don't bother going into the town centre to be fleeced!!
