Very clean and nice attentive staff that makes you feel comfortable. The hosts are always around and go all the way to make you feel good and offer you the best experience. I even had a problem with my car and the host found me a mechanic and helped me solve that issue as soon as possible. You also have everything in one place: a playground for my girls, a nice heated pool with everything u need and a pool bar and let's not forget the restaurant with fresh traditional food and decent prices. Baia de Fier is beautiful, and staying at Casa De Sub Piatra was an excellent choice, for all you can experience, in comfort, meals(you have all you need, if you like to cook), and interactions, for people who like this kind of escape :)) The sense of open space and wideness, in connection with the interiors, to the outdoors, is simply amazing. The rooms are spacious and very clean, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom is modern. Breakfast is very nice. Dinner is good also, but the service in the evening is a little slow. Many tourist attractions in the area, the Constantin Brancusi sculptural ensemble, the Polovragi and Tismana monasteries, the Sohodolului and Oltetului gorges, the Muierilor Cave and many others. Tismana is a lovely area—very peaceful, traditional in nature, and full of charm. Everyone we met was kind and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The town felt very safe and secure, perfect for families. There are two local supermarkets, several smaller shops, and a fantastic independent bakery with fresh pastries that we visited often. The monastery is beautiful and well worth a visit, and the nearby museum with its cave was an unexpected and fascinating surprise. While the area lacks a wide range of restaurants and bars, that can actually be a plus—it adds to the quiet charm of the place. Very close to Targu-Jiu (you can visit the Brancusi monuments), Ranca, Defileul Jiului and many other attractions. We ate mostly at our accommodation (Pensiunea Iris), but there are some fine restaurants in Targu-Jiu as well. A very strong odour of chemicals (for the cleanup) - so I would not recommend it to the persons that are allergic as me. The view was ok, just the interior yard view. Quiet resort in the mountains of Gorj county, Romania. Not many "attractions" in summer, but if you are after the mountain view and fresh air it is perfect for couple days stay. I was on a pilgrimage to the monastery, so not really interested in nature or the village, but the surroundings are stunning of course. The village not so much, the locals' attention is more on profit than cleaningness, tidiness and onesty: the first shop inthe village made me buy 15kg of charcoal by saying there is no other shop further which was of course a trick, there where plenty 2kg packages in the next shop. Impressed by all means of how green and visitor friendly is this city. With beautiful parks - one more wild where you can find two of the Brancusi works and the second that is more austere, clean and very focussed on the infinite column of Brancusi. The city has a walking space with a lot of green and playing grounds for kids, in the center. Beautiful coffee shops on this walking area! The mountains can be spotted at a long distance as a promise of a cooler area!
