- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 351 reviewsI visited at the end of August, so it was the off season, not so many people. Food (lunch/dinner) and beer was great, service also. Beds comfy. Great trails for walks, good sauna and nice spots for a swim and amazing views. This was my first time visiting here so I was pretty excited about everything. Family owned I assume, old cozy maintained building and facilities. Grinda is a beautiful small island.Guest review byGeorgeCyprus

Unfortunately i came back completely bitten by fleas or bed bugs, the doctors must define it yet. never in my life i had anything similar. I booked a spa hotel but the spa was completely under construction (till May 2026 at least). We were however charged the full spa price and have no compensation yet - only Barbara, the head of the reception team tried to save the situation with some dinner invitations. No answer from Booking and no answer from the hotel management yet. the rooms were small and not properly cleaned every day. No wardrobes or storage for your clothes. i really expected a much higher level for over 3200 Euros for 2 rooms for a week. Especially - i you do not offer SPA than do not sell a spa resport hotel!Guest review bykrisztinaAustria - 8.0

Cute little cottage with perfect amount of space for a family of four to stay for a weekend. Well stocked kitchen, great outdoor space for playing. Big drawback was lack of blackout blinds on the windows so putting kids to bed before the sun went down (which is pretty late in summer) was difficult.Guest review byAubrey - 10.0

Vaxholm is the gateway to the Stockholm archipelago, so visiting other islands via ferry is easy. Vaxholm itself is very interesting and worth at least a couple days. If you plan on island hopping (day trips from Vaxholm), then figure an additional day per island. If you don't have time to day trip, then definitely take a boat tour to just get a feel for this gorgeous archipelago. It's stunning.Guest review byDeniseFrance - 10.0

Sahdhamn is a beautiful island at the edge of the archipelago, so please note it can get a bit windy since there are very few islands protecting it from the sea. There are trails criss-crossing the island, so it’s easy to hike around and since it’s not very big there is no risk for getting lost. During the winter most restaurants and shops are closed, but Sandhamn Seglarhotell is open and they have delicious food. The island is transformed during the summer months with lots of people, party and a much wider range of restaurants to choose from. So, depending on what you are after, choose the season to visit Sandhamn carefully. ;-)Guest review bySandraSweden - 10.0
The best place to visit in summer.
The best place to visit in summer. Especially if you are a sucker for sunset like me haha so yeah stay overnight in that case. I travelled a few days back and the beaches were literally empty and so I think there are not many people around in the early week of June but probably I just got lucky. Also because it is a small town it is easy to get around. However, the overnight stay can be a little expensive for students travelling on a budget but for that just look for some discount offer going on and also book early.Guest review bySamikshya - 10.0

Cosy and practical Norrtälje. Bugs.
Cosy and practical Norrtälje. Bugs. We had number of bitemarks in the morning. The window was shut and we were using our own bedclothes. During the night somebody was walking back and forth the front door talking on the phone leaving the door open. The door to our room could not be locked so we didn't sleep the night.Guest review byMarkoFinland - 6.0

Varmdo is a district of 10 000 islands with few towns or villages to wander around or give a sense of place and culture. It has beautiful scenery, lakes, inlets, beaches, woods and farms which made it ideal for hiking and it would have been great for cycling as well as none of the inclines were too steep or too long. There are some beautiful nature reserves such as Bjorno and Sandarna which make the amazing bistro Bjorkvik a good place to pop in for food and drink. The boat services are generally good, but it's not easy to locate information about what is running and when - even Google struggled to find where the information was hidden and repeatedly gave best guesses! If you want to explore quaint villages, pop into shops, trip over a cute cafe for a snack or engage with locals, then Varmdo is not the place for you. If you want to explore nature, hardly see a soul, wild swim, trek through forests past ancient burial mounds and occasionally see people fishing or sailing in the lakes, then add the district to your plans.Guest review byMatthewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Vaxholm is great place to base yourself for hopping out to the more remote parts of the archipelago, as many of the ferries from Stockholm stop here before fanning out into the islands. There is a small range of cafes and restaurants, and the Thai Restaurant is particulalry good value and very friendly. The backstreets are well worth an explore, and it is only a short walk south over the bridge to the nature reserve. When the weather is good, it is simply stunning. We loved the Castle, too.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom
