Scenery in and around Kranjska Gora is stunning.
Scenery in and around Kranjska Gora is stunning. Clean, safe, good bus service to Ljubljana, and lots of cafes and restaurants. Lake Jasna is particularly beautiful. Plenty of places to hire bikes, with beautiful bike trails .Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Great scenery and nature.
Great scenery and nature. Public transport could be improved. Had amazing pizza at a cozy little ski lodge/cottage next to the Bedanc ski resort in Podkoren, it's called "Bife Velika Dolina".Guest review byFilipCroatia - 10.0
Rateče is a small village in the northwest corner of...
Rateče is a small village in the northwest corner of Slovenia, literally a few hundred meters from the Italian border. The tourist resort of Kranjska Gora is located 6 km to the east, and the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana 20 km to the east. Very scenic Fusina lakes are 8 km to the west. The interesting little town of Tarvisio is also nearby in Italy. The area offers nice hiking and cycling possibilities, exploring the 19th and early 20th century military fortresses, and also exploring the interesting small baroque churches. Walks in the surroundings of Rateče are fantastically tranquil and relaxing. The area also offers some nice restaurants with traditional food, as well as very tasteful cheeses! Planica Nordic Centre is located 3 km to the south from Rateče. The Alpe Adria Cycling Path runs along the abandoned but very scenic old railway Tarvisio - Jesenice!Guest review byTomaCroatia - 10.0
What a lovely place to stay.
What a lovely place to stay. Easy access to cycle paths to Kranjska Gora. Easy access by car to Triglav routes. Comfy, with a good mix of rustic charm and modern convenience. Make sure to check out Gostlina Ema near lake Bohinj for incredible food in a stunning location.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Good starting location for trips to Austria, Italy or Slovenian mountains. We visited fortresses from the First World War period, lakes, Soča river, mountains, mountain passes and a Russian wooden church. We will come back for sure for hiking.Guest review byLucieCzech Republic - 10.0

Beautiful and quiet place for those, who want to spend there a little time. Fantastic place for families with kids like also for lonely wolfs. Bikers, walkers won't be disappointed. There are plenty of walking paths like also fantastic bike path made of asphalt. Views even from the city street are breath taking. Everywhere is clean and quiet. Excellent place for charging batteries, and I don't mean an electric ones.Guest review byNorbertPoland - 6.0

In OUR experience, we found the Slovenian people not very friendly... There were definitely exceptions, in both ways, but we are used to saying "hi" to other passing hikers. And you could see by their reaction if they were also foreign or Slovenian: Slovanians either looked mad at us for talking to them, or straight ignored us. Might be the culture, might just be our unlucky experience... Big difference to the Austrians over the border just 20 mins away. Also, except in the real touristy places: No English whatsoever... In supermarkets, on the streets, ... I know that's an "us" problem, but doesn't make it very 'first-timers' friendly 😉 Finally, the real reason we went to Slovenia: What a BEAUTIFUL country!!! The mountain views, the clear water, the nature: we loved it all!Guest review byWautBelgium - 10.0
Beautiful village with some excellent places to eat.
Beautiful village with some excellent places to eat. There is a good supermarket where you can get fresh rolls every morning. It’s a lot quieter and cheaper than the more touristy areas such as Bled but you do really need a car.Guest review byMelanieUnited Kingdom
