Due to recent property developments, Smokovce are no longer the quaint, picturesque village it used to be. It got more crowded and noisier. Nevertheless, compared to Štrbske Pleso or Tatranska Lomnica, it is a good choice for a holiday in the High Tatras.Guest review byJuditLuxembourg - 10.0

It is a very beautiful village. It is reallly nice when it doesn't rain because you can see nice view of the mountain, lots of greenery and some very good hiking trails. The cable car ride is fun, however the cable car from Skalnate Pleso to Lomnicky Stit broke down the 24 hours that i was there. The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka.
Stary Smokovec is a lovely small town along the Electricka. Its clean, quiet and lovely. It is a perfect starting point for Slavskovksy Stit hike or through Hrebienok you can have Teryho Chata, Priecna veza, Zbojnicka chata trip within a day. For a post-hike refuel, i warmly suggest to have a Gazda burger in Pizza and Burger Vana. They have a several comfortable seats outside, its quick and tasty. Hotel Hills. An excellent service. We have been very satisfied with our trip. Professional approach and attitude especially from Karolína at the reception and waitresses Erika and Kristína. Amazing Wellness facilities. Only little set back is lack of air conditioning in the rooms. My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to AlpsGuest review byHana
