What was supposed to be an overnight stay by the border turned into a resort-like experience… The hotel is just amazing! It certainly has the potential to become the city landmark. The corner room offered the best view of the river. The hotel is convenient, perfectly designed, new and impeccably clean, state of art in terms of technology, with lovely staff. Sleepy small town by the river, relaxing if you come from a...

Sleepy small town by the river, relaxing if you come from a large city like BKK or VTE. Rent a bike and take a tour along the river. Don’t forget to visit the spectacular Buddha park (sister to the Vientiane version). It is a good stop to relax a few days on your way to / from Laos.

It was bigger than I thought it was.

It was bigger than I thought it was. Many temples further up in the mountains were definitely places to add to your list. I loved the views from the Mekong across to Laos, the markets in the town by the river, the night market by the station and of course all the temples were great to visit. I stayed at the Park and Pool resort which had great service, rooms and a nice pool.
