Just a 7 minute walk from Lukang Artist Village and Lukang Old Street, 小艾背包客棧 Small Eye Backpacker offers dormitory rooms with free WiFi access. It takes 15 minutes to walk to Lukang Tianhou Temple from the property. Property is located near Gentlemen Alley and only a 5 min walk to Lungshan Temple. This is such a cute hostel in a perfect location, a few minutes from the bus stops to Taichung and Changhua, as well as being right in the middle of Lukang's historical district. There are also convenience stores and restaurants close by. The bathroom facilities and rooms are clean, and the common areas are lovely. The lady who checked me in was sweet even though she didn't speak English and my Mandarin is terrible. She was very patient while we worked it all out with Google Translate. If I return to Lukang (I hope I do!), I'll stay here again.

The hostel is uniquely self serve because there is never an on-site staff, even though someone is also responsive via Booking.com messages. The facilities are also very well kept and clean, but I especially love the cloth drying space which brilliantly uses the AC vent's hot air for quick drying. The free food in the lobby (coffee, tea, snacks, toast) was also a lovely touch. The proximity to the terminal bus station is also an advantage in allowing guests to quickly enter and exit Lukang and explore the main attractions by foot and bus.

Location: Need to walk approx 1km from the train station, but only 1-2mins for buses to 鹿港 and also walkable to 八卦山。The B&B is located beside the public car park along the street. Concept: Our room was on the 1st floor with 2 double decker beds. It’s decorated like an old school backpacker room but with toilet attached. Owner is man of few words but very helpful if you have any questions.

The host is helpful. The wifi and other facilitation are good. The location is not far from the place of the conference. It is a safe place.
