- From $65.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,043 reviewsOverall: Photos of property were accurate, staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the room. Room: Bath was nice, shower had 6 heads (normal one, handheld (had a holder), and 4 on the side walls), which surprisingly all 4 had good pressure, which was a delight. Room was quite large, bed was large and quite soft. Massage chair present, though unused. Large desk was helpful to get a bit of work done. Fridge was a plus! I personally liked the bench/couch at the end of the bed, seating besides desk/bed is always appreciated. Tea, cups, and a kettle were available, with sugar as well. Did not notice any noise issues from adjoining stays! What we were "eh" about: Whole wall of mirrors, which I'm sure many people would love, though not our thing. Most all of the walls are also panes of glass, showing outside mini garden area. Did feel private enough, but I definitely always want windows closed during nighttime - thankfully the pull-down curtains started mostly closed, because that was a lot of windows to cover up! Breakfast was McDonalds, which we expected due to other reviews. While we didn't love that, we did appreciate that food was provided even though the layout of hotel means there won't be a shared eating area. I liked that staff gave us two breakfast time options (7/9am), had it promptly (a bit before our chosen 9am), and that when asking preferred time the night before, they informed us that it would come from McDonalds. We did not choose what to get (they provided 2 black teas, a sausage McMuffin, and a filet o fish), but I did not ask if you can make requests, so not sure if that's an option.Guest review byAnthonyUnited States

Fabulous place. Rather touristy, but the character is great.
Fabulous place. Rather touristy, but the character is great. Very hilly, and steep. Great coffee shops. Old street very crowded but quaint, and touristy. Great treks to be had, but very steep steps. Great local sightseeing. Well worth a visit.Guest review byRosemarieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The highlight of my trip was my morning stroll by the riverside. It was a peaceful Sunday morning. The weather was cool and it was not that sunny. In contrast with the hustle and bustle of the previous Saturday evening (which was also a sight to behold), there were not a lot of people at the plaza and the park apart from some joggers and men fishing in the river. I culminated my stroll with a visit to one of the popular eateries in the neighbourhood serving authentic a-gei (淡水老牌阿給 創始店, No. 6之1號, Zhenli St, Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 251). This was one of the reasons I wanted to visit Tamsui. I ordered a-gei with a side of fish ball soup. And it did not disappoint. The a-gei was very filling and flavourful. It reminded me of sotanghon I used to eat back home. The fish balls, on the other hand, were packed with filling and immersed in a hot peppery soup. I was looking for a relaxing/restful experience for my weekend trip. I definitely got that during my stay in Tamsui.Guest review byIzzah Mei - 8.0

Within a few hour driving distance to Taipei City, it is one of the most popular spots during the weekends. In this district there is still a large paid parking spot, which is greatly appreciated. Seafood restaurants competition is fierce here, but you still need to know what you are ordering and what king of price information. It does not have the notourious reputation like Fu-Ji port nearby where the restaurante fleeced the clients. If you hate the crowd, and does not like to stay in line for parking or restaurants, avoid the holidays or weekends. During weekdays it is a lot more comfortable. Highly recommend to spend overnight to view the sunrise and sunset and you can go to the beach when it is not as crowded.Guest review byYih HsinTaiwan - 6.0
Good location and right on yellow line subway.
Good location and right on yellow line subway. Close to a small night market. I can speak Chinese,so no communication problem. But, not sure if someone who can’t speak will be. It does have cockroaches.Guest review byChungyi (Emma)United States - 8.0

I really enjoyed just escaping Tapei for a few days and basking in the nature, even if one day was just storms and rain. There was some vegan options at Old Street and at the hotel, and the view across the water was incredible. If you have any physical issues, keep in mind there are a lot of steep steps, hills and cobblestone pathways that may limit accessibility.Guest review byBronwynAustralia - 8.0
Good for walking along the riverside.
Good for walking along the riverside. More interesting if you wander up the back streets. The hotel staff didn’t know where a laundry was but found a laundromat 5 minutes walk away - turn right and walk up the hill - take the first lane on the right and its on the left - self service with washing and drying machines - new and clean.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Tourist trap.
Tourist trap. Beautiful for photos (if you're ok with hundreds of people in the background) but everything else was bad -- soooo overcrowded. The food was bad (except for pineapple cakes) and everything was only open during the peak of the day - around 10-7, so forget about breakfast or a late dinner. If you insist on seeing it then I think a day trip would suffice, sadly staying the night was not at all beneficial because once the day tourists leave on their tour busses, the whole place shuts down with metal doors on all the shops in the street so doesn't even make for a good photo.Guest review byTaylorUnited States - 6.0
I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located.
I loved Tamsui, where the hotel is located. The old part of town was around the corner and 7 min. walk away is the long waterfront with hundreds of food stalls, restaurants and lots of people having a good time strolling, flying kites and eating delicious local foods. The hotel was ok but dated. The mattresses were not comfortable and the air conditioner didn’t work.Guest review byTherryUnited States
