Best food on the island.

Meremeta Lodge is one of the few places in Mafia Island that has air-conditioning - a must in February. The staff members are all great, and the owner (Meremeta) is very friendly, attentive, available, accommodating and helpful - nothing is too much effort for him; you can ask him anything and he will always answer "it is possible"! Meremeta Lodge is also one of the very few places in Mafia that is owned by a local Mafian, and we recommend that you support local.

This is a great place to stay if you are planning to dive in Mafia for a view days. The two cosy new bungalows are part of the family run dive center. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is yummy and you can also have the option for dinner. I enjoyed the big pool to relax after great dives and the beach is just a stone throw away. Also the dive center and its extremely helpful staff deserves 5 stars!

We spent 4 nights at this wonderful lodge and felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the manager organised tours and expeditions for us every single day. Despite visiting outside of the whale shark season we managed to swim with a whale shark during a snorkelling trip. The food was fresh and delicious and the entire property was well maintained with clean rooms and facilities. One of the best accommodations during our Tanzania trip!
