This was hands down the best place to stay in Zanzibar! I was looking for somewhere quiet to relax with amazing sunset views, and this spot couldn’t have been more perfect. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, and the chef even taught me some Swahili! The staff were incredible: always friendly, attentive, and going out of their way to make sure everything was just right. It’s the little things that really stood out. On my last day, I had a late-night flight and was going to miss breakfast. Without me even asking, they packed one up for me to take on my trip. That kind of thoughtfulness says everything about how much they care for their guests. I’d 100% recommend this place and would come back in a heartbeat if I get the chance to visit Zanzibar again!

We choose the best resort for our honeymoon! The overall energy is calm and very friendly. The staff was very attentive and kind. English skills were very good and we liked to talk to all of the employees. Rooms were very clean and big, quiet and comfortable big bed. We liked the tiled bathroom a lot and there was no bad smell. In the room we had everything we wanted and also got a nice welcoming surprise and room upgrade! 😃 We mostly ate at the resort and enjoyed the food a lot. There was a big offer of dishes, from local cuisine with fresh fish to pizza, pasta and burger. Virgin Mojito was our favorite drink 🥰 Pool was perfect to cool down. There were not so many guests, due to low season and it felt very private by the pool. We had a lot of fun playing with Coco, their pet monkey. She is so cute! My favorite part was the stunning view! Very well maintained beach and comfortable sun lounger were perfect to relax and enjoy the view! ✨️😊

We travel a lot and I must say that I have not come accross prettier a rustic property. The food is outstanding and the staff is very helpful. The pictures don't do justice to the on ground reality( it is much prettier). It is a calm and peaceful place for tasteful travellers. The missing airconditioners aren't a problem and the breeze beds are totally worth it. Bush babies at the bar are the celebs. We stayed for 6 nights and loved every minute spent.

    The vibes of the resort are amazing. There are many places to relax and just chill and forget about the world. My favorite place was the far end of the deck. The rooms are comfy, and the view is a life changer. There was a pop up outdoor cinema, that was pretty cool, and we found out about it by chance while we were roaming around. The food was great, three delicious meals per day, felt like home 😅 the staff are very nice, the manager Ms. Marilyn I think, I'm not sure I got it right, she's a magnificent person. Mr. Nestori is also a really great person. And the Arabic chef is extremely amazing. All the staff were very cool. Overall, if I ever went back to Zanzibar, I'm definitely going to stay there.

    This was my second time at this resort. I recommend it to everyone. That’s how lovely it is. I’ve been to many resorts in ZNZ as we live in Tanzania for the past 15 years and this one is a winner. Tasteful and beautiful. Facing west with a lovely sunset. In a bay so very little tide or waves. No beach boys harassing you. White sand. Excellent food. A/c in the rooms so you can escape the heat. Plunge pools with each Banda. Big pool. Excellent staff. The Rock is just 15 mins away.

    Michamvi is good for relaxing and enjoying . There are few vendors and they are not disturbing you and friendly. We stayed 25 days at Kikoi Boutique Resort and arranged all excursions on Zanzibar as well as a Safari with Sir Alex at Kikoi for reasonable prices and with good service . Their Cook Mister Mahaveer Sing is a real Master Chef and we enjoyed every meal he prepared us . Compliments to all the people working there. You made our stay unfogettable.     What we like most about pongwe is about the safety and quietness of the place ,very peaceful and calm, what we didn't like it's just the beach that's why we didn't get to go there,we liked more of kendwa though it's far from pongwe

    The resort was clean and had the island atmosphere. Food was good and a variety to choose wwwith different restaurants. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Just a reminnder that you will pay extra at the airport for insurance fees and also extra tax fees at the hotel if its not included in your original price.

    Please remember that Marumbi is a Village in a poor third world country and therefore there is very little to do. A few local shops. A couple of local Restaurants (We loved Bustani), no bars and a hotel that doesn’t welcome outsiders. If you are looking for nightlife it’s probably not for you.

    the welcoming commetee was amazing. They made us feel at home. Checking in was a breeze and the pool bar staff was so helpful and friendly. I loved the music by the pool area,it was inclusive to all nations. Tha food was amazing the whole experience was great. I was there to celebrate my birthday and they made it extra special. From the decoration in my room,to the suprise cake and singing.i had a good time. The rock resturant is less than 5min away, we wemt there using the free bicycle offered at the hotel.

    Pongwe Beach Hotel is a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach and grounds are beautiful and well maintained . We love that it peaceful and quiet with no loud music or jet skis. We enjoyed the program put on by the hotel staff that included the guests.

    This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi...

    This area has less tourism than some other areas in Zanzi bar, it has what you need, different restaurangs, a super market, beachbar and so on. There is not so many other tourists here so you feel like its really a part of an small island. If you are looking for highend dining and alot of shopping then i advise you to look for another area or do as we did - get a car or a taxi its ok priced for a full day. The traffic was really suprising - its was better then most so called modern countries - slow, keeping distance -respecting each other - we rented a car for 3 days and it was super nice. We payed 30usd/day + 10usd for the local driving license - dont drive to fast or drunk - the police are really on there toes - and mind the big roadbumps... We ate a lot of lobster and fish - always fresh - never dissapointed, we also ate alot of vegetarian food - its everywere great dishes.

    Enjoyed having lunch at the Rock and also liked the lunch at Kea restaurant.It is simple getting around Michamvi and don't even have to ask your way around.We enjoyed snorkling and going to the star fish spot

    It was amazing!! Beautiful place and unbelievable accommodation. Food great . The service from the staff was the best ever !!! Both of us fell in love with all of the people working there . Cannot recommend Pongwe Island enough ❤️

    The location was excellent.

    The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. Following my unfavourable interaction with cats, we were upgraded to a bigger room with an ocean view since I have ailurophobia (cat phobia). Thanks to the hotel owners for such a gesture. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out. Disliked · Being an Ailurophobia (Cats phobic), I did not enjoy the outdoor space because several cats roamed everywhere, including the restaurant, balconies and stairs. This has nothing to do with the owners but my personal condition. I advise those with similar conditions to avoid this place. Areas of improvement include breakfast - more food diversity and a balanced diet are needed. The beds in the rooms need to be fixed to avoid noise. Bathrooms need upgrading.
