Jinja is great. Friendly community. Small and very African. Loved it. The shopping is great, local products at reasonable prices, bought loads of clothes and crafts. Source cafe serves up a decent meal although the wait time can be lengthy.
Jinja is called the "adventure capital of East Africa" - and it is. Something to do for everyone - or simply just enjoy existing and "doing nothing"! The new "Java Cafe" at the Shell petrol station by the big round about when entering town is OUTSTANDING. Great coffee and fabulous food as always in Java Cafe.
Jinja is a pleasant town with friendly people although could be cleaner and more organised. The lake view and river offer unique viewing experience. Source of Nile restaurant on main street is good for snacking and has internet facilities and another restaurant behind Crested Crane Hotel cooks good meals for dinner.
I go into Jinja about once a week for supplies while staying in a remote village. It is an interesting town but beware of Muzungo prices.
People go to Jinja for adventure sports which I didn't have time to do. You can take a (cheesy) boat ride to the source of the Nile. Stay longer to have time to go rafting or a Nile cruise otherwise it's just a city.
Jinja is a lovely town. You can visit the source of the Nile and take a boat trip around Lake Victoria. The different birds you will see is fantastic. Alternatively a stroll around town, particularly Main street is enjoyable. There are some good coffee shops to stop at and lots of shops to explore. Central Market is also worth a visit. The people are very friendly.
Beautiful green part of Uganda. For the travelling Muzungu try The Deli on Jinga Main Street for a taste of home. A visit to Nile Village hotel or Jinja Sailing Club is worth a treat and luxury. Craft shops along Jinga Main Street are excellent for gifts and memories to take home. People are very friendly and you will be looked after well. Enjoy the Boda Bodas!
We helped out with a great charity SALVE International working to help children off the streets of Jinja and back to their families and into school. Easy to get around by motorcycle taxi but helmets in short supply.
Nice place for a weekend if you need some rest and/ or like rafting. It is worth staying in a hotel overlooking the Nile; found the scenery more special than near Jinja town. I ate at the Black Lantern in hotel Nile Porch, which was really good.
Jinja is a overwhelming city growing so there is a lot of dust and traffic. I enjoyed the market visit and a once in a lifetime experience water rafting down the nile.

Maybe the best place to stay in Jinja Perfect setting decorated with African taste. Very friendly and helpful staff guiding us to all activities and restaurants around. The swimming pool is well maintained and makes an excellent activity for children. No need to move for dinner. Excellent african, continental or indian food comes directly to the hotel from good restaurants nearby and is served perfectly at the hotel's salle à manger. Very good breakfast and excellent wi-fi by Ugandan standards.

The staff were very welcoming and kind, they also gave great recommendations of what to do in Jinja ( I'd recommend the Fabio bike tour!). The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. The hotel is located in a quiet and safe location close to the city. Breakfast was super and the food at the restaurant was really good ( we are there every night haha). I would definitely stay again, thank you :)

I loved the location, the staff, the green amenities (solar cooker, recycling bins, compost bin), the garden, the kitchen, the people I met there. It was a very good stay. I enjoyed it so much I extended my stay in Jinja. I didn't do any tours with them because I felt their price was a bit high though. But the hostel was really good. A piece of home.

You get a good size room with a private balcony and excellent view for the price + breakfast is included and good enough in quality. The view and location close to the Victoria lake is definitely everything. The location is a bit away from everything else in Jinja though, and the roads to the hotel are awful, specially if you're going on a rainy day.

Very Nice Resort with amazing food, and more amazing view on Nile. Resort is close to the Jinja We had boat trip from Resort to Source of Nile. There are living monkey family. This is the best place to sleep for first nights in Uganda. They have free Wi-Fi (fast as for Ugandan conditions).

This is a decent yet basic place offering simple rooms and simple facilities. It is on one of the main roads in Jinja in convenient distance to both city centre and the Kampala road. Staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are on a budget then this place is a good choice.
