We REALLY appreciated that! And it was so nice to have a lovely front porch with rockers to relax, an accommodating dining area where we could get snacks, coffee and drinks. A charming town with a lot of eateries, cafes and shops. It had a perfect waterfront view as well. Our favourites were the Choco-Latte Cafe where they have an amazing Maine Maple Oat coffee and yummy food and Frenchman Bay Lobster Rolls, for one of the best lobster rolls. Exceptional does not begin to describe this property. Is it a beautifully constructed and secluded cabin mirroring the owner’s memory of her childhood home on the West Coast of Ireland. Imaginatively furnished, it is the best equipped rental in which I have ever stayed. Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor.
Southwest Harbor is much quieter than Bar Harbor. It is very walkable, with several restaurants and shops. It is a short drive to the Bass Harbor lighthouse and Acadia National Park. The city dock is open to the public, and you can get some good pictures of the harbor from the dock. I took my wife to the Red Sky restaurant for her birthday.
