Astoria is a fun place!
Astoria is a fun place! My husband and I loved the Maritime museum and the fun shops. We had a delicious lunch at MO’s and an amazing dinner at the Silver Salmon Grill. Sadly we didn’t have time to visit any of the art galleries. We will return.Guest review byKathyUnited States - 10.0
Cannon Beach is absolutely beautiful.
Cannon Beach is absolutely beautiful. More than once I caught myself saying, how is this place real? Walks on the beach around Haystack rock are mesmerizing. Don't miss going at low tide to see the starfish and sea urchins hanging out in the tide pools. Sunsets are stunning and lots of people build small campfires on the beach to watch the sun set and relax into the evening. There are lots of cute shops, coffee shops and cafes around town. Rockaway Beach has both a small town vibe with homey, independent restaurants and stores, and some condo/commercial rental properties, but isn't overly touristy. There is not much to do in Pacific City and few places to eat that stay open late. We found "Beach Walk" and "Doryland Pizza" that both stayed open until 8pm. This is obviously someone's second home.
This is obviously someone's second home. Fiesta ware dishes and adequate pots and pans to make meals. Good stove with an oven. Lots of light in this knotty pine paneled house made for good quilting and painting. It is comfortable, not just furnished. Decks on main and bedroom floors. There is a bottom room, that banks right into the hillside and smells damp, though not moldy. I suspect homeowners wish it weren't this way, it is unfurnished though it has wrestling mats to put down so perhaps a child's romp room in the winter. Basic cable and older electronics so don't expect to "watch" Tv much . House set up for stargazing and birding from the decks. WIFI worked for doing work and using our own electronics. A nice walk up the hill nearby will lead to a spot for whale watching and paragliding. Walk to beach is relatively short but there is quite a hill to get back to the house, so driving more feasible. We stayed in Nehalem for its proximity to Manzanita, where we were attending an event. The property is just 2 miles south of Manzanita, which was very convenient. We booked on short notice, with few choices available.
