- From $270.99 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 5.7Fair - What previous guests thought, 86 reviewsAn amazing and magical place in the foothills of Sierras. If you look for an old-style / rustic place with some character don’t look further. No your luxury brand hotel amenities, but it is in the heart of the region and has a good restaurant/ bar for reasonable priced food options.Guest review byAliUnited States

The pools are great! The restaurant is AWFUL!
The pools are great! The restaurant is AWFUL! I'd rather eat my shoe than eat at that restaurant! The bar/grill are ok, certainly better than the restaurant, but that is speaking relatively... The store is very nice, offering a good variety of snacks and drinks. The location is very good, just a few miles away from the Yosemite entrance. The staff were friendly and responsive. The rooms were clean, and, thankfully, the AC worked well (it was 109 degrees when we were there!). The bathroom lights turned on automatically whenever someone entered the room, which we didn't like, and would have liked a way to turn that feature off.Guest review byNeckmanUnited States - 10.0

The very clean rooms, more than helpful staff and dining access on the property were the most important to my group of three. In addition, the attached balcony was perfect for an evening spent winding down from the trip. The meals we had were cooked exactly as asked and were very good as well. At the time of our visit, the pool was not yet open for the season and would have been welcome by our group.Guest review byChisum - 8.0
The heart of gold country.
The heart of gold country. History, history, history. 10 minutes to Railtown, with it's historic steam engines and round house. 10 minutes to Columbia Historic State park. 1 hour to the entrance to Yosemity National Park.Guest review byAnonymousUnited States - 8.0

the cabins were more than adequate for our 2 day stay. the beds were comfortable but the room got very warm in the sunny afternoons. it would be nice to have a small window fan to blow out the hot air. the bathroom and shower did not drain properly one day and had standing water on the floor and in the shower stalls. but it was cleaned up the next day.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
It's a cute town up in the foothills.
It's a cute town up in the foothills. Nearby wineries, Calaveras County Frog Jumping, Golf Courses, State Parks, etc. I believe its an old mining town. There are also caves to explore nearby, and even some zip lining. Great place to spend a long weekend.Guest review byRonUnited States - 8.0
Jamestown is small and quiet.
Jamestown is small and quiet. It’s great if you have a dog and you want someplace peaceful for Fourth of July. Sonora, which is much bigger is only a few minutes away. Columbia is not far either There are a lot of antique shops both in Sonora Jamestown and if that’s what you’re into it’s a great place to goGuest review byHayes - 10.0

Twain Harte is a charming, uncrowded downtown with a perfect balance. It features a few restaurants, bars, and adorable antique gift shops. The Twain Harte Market has everything you need, making it very convenient. There are also some great hiking trails nearby. I highly recommend visiting Columbia State Historic Park and Pinecrest Lake. The Historic Park includes buildings from the California Gold Rush era that remain today, while the 4-mile loop trail around Pinecrest Lake offers an easy to moderate hike—challenging but definitely doable.Guest review byJudyUnited States - 2.0

We stayed at this hotel before when Sam the previous owner was there. Now it’s under new ownership. It’s was not the same. We booked two rooms. One of them didn’t have hot water. The ac didn’t work well since they use swamp coolers. The owner has been there for only a few months and I think he is overwhelmed. As far as the room himself, it needs new curtains the ones that we had wooden close right they were pretty old ann Cow webs all over the ceilings. It wasn’t very clean.Guest review bySamUnited States - 10.0
Long Barn is an excellent choice summer or winter.
Long Barn is an excellent choice summer or winter. The atmosphere is quaint with red painted cottages and breathtaking pine trees surrounding the premises. In the summer there is an enormous pool which is wonderful for all ages. In the winter there is an ice skating rink and a large grounds to play in the snow. There are hotel rooms and fully equipped cabins for large families and friends. Long Barn is the best choice to stay for a trip to Dodge Ridge or Pinecrest.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
We didn't travel to visit El Portal which is pretty sparse.
We didn't travel to visit El Portal which is pretty sparse. Its proximity to Yosemite is the reason we visit. There is a service station which is strategically located and also a fairly good coffee shop (dog friendly).Guest review byLadrue
