The beach was clean and they were constantly cleaning it. A few sketchy people hanging out but overall fealy safe. If you like fishing, lots of opportunities from shore and boatsl Explore restaurants away from the beach,go to Big Sams which is a local "dive bar" with good food, prices and staff. We liked Ocean Beach in Maryland better but we might come back and stay at a different place. The people we met here especially at the inlet fishing were great. The great Wolf lodge indoor and outdoor water park is an amazing place for the whole family to go. And if you can't afford a room, you have the option to basically lay away the room. You can reserve it and make payments over time. The rooms there are amazing. Spark Hotel by Hilton was perfect for my 2 nights in Norfolk for business. Spark is CLEAN, Comfortable, 24-hour coffee & tea available in the lobby, bagels & cream cheese, yogurt, and orange juice (cereal & oatmeal too) make a great quick breakfast before heading out for my day. The city of Newport news should have inspectors go there and shut the place down til the owners redo every room in that dump hotel, hire decent workers not drug people, remove all the smelly carpet in the whole place, remove the ghetto glass at the front desk, order all real towels and wash clothes for the bathrooms, hire a real GM, do back ground checks on all employees, throw out all homeless people that stay there, keep non paying customers' from hanging around the front entrance, hire a landscaping company to redo the front of the place to make it look like something, exterminate the whole property big time, have police to do drive buys now and then, the owners off that property should be ashamed of them self's the way it is now, shut it down, i would not stay there if it was free!Guest review bymatthewUnited States - 6.0

Roanoke, VA has NO CABS. You must get an Uber or Lift if you do not want to drive to a dinner destination. The hotel did not inform us that there would be a parade on Saturday, and many streets were closed as a result. So driving around wasn't easy.Guest review byPalfreyUnited States
