Paternoster is a beautiful village with an outstanding beach. There are a wide choice of places to stay and some excellent restaurants in the area. We ate at Gaitjies and at the Voorstand restaurants. Gaitijies is excellent..creative cuisine , and Voorstrand serves delicious simpler food, but well worth a visit. Saldanha is a quiet fishing and mining town with lots of interesting places to see. The local fish monger has the best fish and chips. The Weskus Mall is close by with good shops to visit. Brilliant sea-view; literally just a street width from beach. Not for swimming though; swimming beach ca 1km away. But one does not come for swimming! When the wind comes from the north, the smell of sea-birds somewhat overwhelming. But that's part of the deal. The Klawer hotel is something to visit. We had a very interesting meal there. We spent four nights in Vredendal, and it was absolutely lovely! The butcher in the Check-In shop is outstanding, the meat is superior and definitely worth visiting.
