Eugene was such a great host. He spent the evening on the patio with us after fixing us his famous Kudu burgers. The guest room we stayed in was spacious and very cool despite the temps already exceeding 30 degrees. The bed was comfy and we slept really well. Breakfast was again done by Eugene and was excellent. If you come to the Klein Karoo do yourself a favour and stay here even if it’s a bit remote.

The lodge and estate are just beautiful. It was our second visit - may become an annual event! We stayed in a deluxe suite in the Manor House and it was just lovely - very spacious and the views from the balcony were stunning. The food was delicious, especially the steak! Bar service from Passmore and his team was impeccable. The nature drive with Daniel was informative and laidback with a lovely drink stop along the way. The zebra and various book grazing near by the pool at dinner was just magical.

A perfect stopover en route to Cape Town via route 62. The cottage is a quaint historic building with thick walls and was sparkling clean. We had everything we needed for our stay and especially enjoyed the stoep looking onto the garden with a great view of the mountains. Perfect waterwise garden with olive trees and a good enclosed space for our two little dogs to stretch their legs. Our host Jeanette was most helpful too. We can definitely recommend this lovely cottage!

Spacious, comfortable cottage with excellent braai facilities. The stoep is very deep and the cool shade was very welcome on this hot February day.

We have nothing but the highest praise for everyone at Bosch Luys Kloof who made our stay absolutely unforgettable. The food, the accommodation, the guides' knowledge of the reserve and every living thing in it - all were exceptional. I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone looking for an escape from hectic day-to-day life, and dreaming of somewhere you can completely switch off and be surrounded by nature. If you really need it, you can get WiFi signal in reception. We used it to check in with family before/after our amazing meals served in the adjacent restaurant. Every meal was perfectly cooked and delicious. We did two nature drives with Sarah and we were so impressed and fascinated by everything she told us about the reserve, the resident animals and history of the whole area. It was a real treat to see so many animals in their natural environment. The drive down into the reserve was a lot of fun in our Defender - the views down the ravine were absolutely stunning - and the welcoming committee (the furious-looking dassies) were a bonus 😂 We would definitely return to Bosch Luys Kloof for another idyllic and peaceful break from reality. Thanks again to everyone who helps to make it such a perfect place to stay!

Liza's place is perfect for a relaxing and tranquil break. The place is very well equipped and looks out at the incredible scenery of the Wartberg Mountains - in particular Towerkop Peak. There is a very large outside sitting area equipped with a braai (free wood), swings, lounge chairs, picnic table and pool/hot tub. This is was our fourth stay and we will defintely return should we make it back to South Africa yet again. Thanks Liza for a great time.

A lovely property to stay in on the route 62 with gorgeous views all around. The room was very spacious, and we also really enjoyed the private pool and sun deck area with the view over the vineyards. I booked a massage which was great, the staff overall were very welcoming and we felt a personal touch during our stay. The breakfast was great, and we also had the dinner since you don’t really have anything around the estate, and we were very happy with it.

A historic town with some beautiful old houses, remnants of the feather-boom days. Shops stock most of the supplies one needs, the hardware store (CBL) in town has everything, the new Pharmacy owners are more than helpful and kind, and generally people are welcoming and friendly. There are places to eat breakfast or lunch, and if you want something a bit more special you need to drive out of town a bit, but not far. I enjoyed the road ro Voorbaat, and passing through farms nestled in this green valley.

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.

Although right on a small district road, the cottage is quiet and well appointed. The hosts are super welcoming, friendly and helpful, and put in effort to make a stay enjoyable and relaxing. Perfect for a family of 4, or 2 couples. There is a nature reserve a kilometre down the road, and we enjoyed a drive through it. Plathuis is 5 km off the R62, so it it really a peaceful place.

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.

I loved everything about the place... it was just what I expected of the Karoo and more! We loved the little pool that gets cleaned out after each visit, and the water is used on their garden. I loved the fact that there was no light pollution as I wanted to enjoy the night sky and that they're totally off the grid and pretty much self sufficient. The hosts were super helpful, friendly and generous. I also liked the old worldliness of the experience yet it was totally comfortable too! I recommended the nightlife as in peace and stars!

The mountains provide a scenic backdrop to this Klein Karoo town and the opportunity of recreation for the adventurous visitor. If you go during the summer, there's also plenty of delicious fresh produce available. The town also boasts some beautiful Victorian architecture, which is best appreciated on foot.
