The Royal Island Resort & Spa is a 30-minute wheeled aircraft ride from Malé International Airport. A mandatory transfer is provided by the resort, and charges are to be paid upon arrival. It was a tiny well maintained self sufficient island and the host / staff member were awesome!

The resort features 109 bungalows, spread across the beach, gardens and lagoon. Options range from romantic overwater bungalows with steps into the ocean to spacious two-bedroom family bungalows with private pools and butler service. All bungalows offer complimentary Wi-Fi, air conditioning, sundecks and outdoor bathrooms with Maldivian-style rain showers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the resort on the island in the Maldives. One of the aspects we appreciated most was the high standard of cleanliness throughout the property. Our room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, providing a quiet and peaceful environment that allowed for complete relaxation. The dining experience was overall very good, although there is some room for improvement in terms of variety and refinement. That said, the service provided by the staff was truly outstanding. They were consistently professional, courteous, and attentive. We did not encounter a single issue during our stay — their dedication and hospitality were genuinely commendable.

Each one of Finolhu’s villas are located either on the island’s beachfront or directly over the ocean waters. More than half of the villas feature a private pool, while every villa category offers a spacious living area with all the modern comforts of home. We stayed in March 2025 — everything was perfect. The island is small but very picturesque and well-maintained. We stayed in a beach villa with a private pool — surrounded by lush greenery, beautiful scenery and a sense of complete privacy. Right across from our villa was a golf simulator, which we used several times since we enjoy playing golf. The main restaurant pleasantly surprised us — the food was tasty and varied. Among the à la carte options, the Japanese restaurant was our favorite. We dined there several times, and the dishes were truly outstanding. The spa was also a highlight — the massage was absolutely amazing and deeply relaxing. Special thanks to the staff — polite, attentive, and very detail-oriented. We were left with only the best impressions of our stay.

The waters are clean and pristine with excellent snorkeling and water sports. The dining far exceeded our expectations with many seafood and vegetarian choices. The chefs are all 5 star. From the housekeeping staff to the butler service to the waiter staff this establishment is the best we have ever seen.
