The staff were exceptional. All - from senior management downwards. The drivers were particularly good and impressed us with their skills on difficult roads.
Tanna Island
Located at Ipak Bay, North Tanna, Rockwater Resort features a private beach and landscaped gardens. Return airport transfers are included upon request from the property.
The resort offers guests with an interior and exterior restaurant. Guests can enjoy snorkeling at the front of the resort, go hiking; or relax and read a book.
The location is absolutely fantastic with beautiful views. The garden is really great, beautifully lush. The rooms are incredibly beautifully decorated with an eye for detail, each with a fantastic terrace or a balcony. Privacy for each room is guaranteed by the clever design of the entire accommodation. The grounds with garden and orchard are great to walk through.
There is a path down where you can easily enter the water to go snorkeling in calm water. Such beautiful coral with its even more beautiful fish, you're in a real time aquarium! The restaurant is open and very spacious with absolutely the best food! Every day another menu is really awesome to choose from. The owners/ managers and staff are very friendly and very helpful to arrange everthing you would love to do. At the end of the day the staff made a fire in the firepit to enjoy the sunset with a drink, just before dinner. The managers arranged all the excursions that we wanted to do and took care that everything went according to plan, wow!
To experience the volcano from so close is a super special experience and great that we saw, felt and smelled that. The route to it through the ashplanes was absolutely amazing! Yakel village was also a super special experience with beautiful people. Also a visit to the banyan tree was magical!
A tip I want to give, go to the website to read all the excursions you can do on site in advance. So that you know what you want to do when you get there and can book directly to optimize your stay. We absolutely loved Tanna and loved our stay at the Resort and whished we could have stayed even longer!
Tanna Island
Offering a barbecue and a private beach area, Tanna Evergreen Resort & Tours is situated on Tanna Island. The resort has a sun terrace and views of the sea, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the setting lovely. This locally run resort is an unsophisticated comfortable choice conveniently located near to the airport.
Becky and Glen were absolutely lovely, so helpful when we had an issue as soon as we arrived and great throughout the stay! The bungalows were right by the beach, spacious and had private bathrooms which was a luxury too! Definitely good value for money and really enjoyed! Breakfast was also included, simple but tasty and filling.
Breakfast was nice, more variety than we had had at other resorts. Transport into the markets on market mornings - finally something you don't hVE TO Py for.
Great location. Veronika is an excellent cook. The price for transportation to the volcano is 3000 watts less than in the surrounding resorts. Veronika's husband took us to a local village with a Kava tasting and indigenous dancers. I highly recommend.
I can’t imagine that there is a better resort on Tanna. For anyone visiting the Bahai House of Worship you want to stay here. The r sort will need some renovation in a couple of years but not now. Great staff, thank you
Location and price are amazing. Room is sufficient. However I would not recommend for elderly or anyone with mobility issues. Would also recommend to resort to have communication board for guests to communicate to staff for your and food requirements when no one is around .
As we were travelling on a budget and keen to meet the locals Alofa Beach bungalows was the perfect balance of comfort and friendly hospitality. Simple, relaxing and authentic looking bungalows with ensuite, running water and hot showers. The host were lovely and ready to help with whatever we needed. The food was nice. Pancakes for breakfast :) The bungalows are near a long stretch of coral strewn beach typical of Vanuatu and close to the local village. Perfect alternative to the resorts if you're after a more authentic experience.
The staff pay a lot of attention to detail. Place settings for meals are beautiful. The cooking is very good, with a limited menu. Staff very helpful with advice and make sure guests are happy. Hot water showers, and electricity all day! Very good value for money. Quiet, clean and peaceful. Easy local buses to Lemakel, airport and other resorts.
Comfortable bed, hot shower, cupboard space...and the staff were nice. Resort itself was nice but no-one around to man the facilities, so what's the point. Tours were good but were well overpriced from the Resort and there was lack of communication between the two. Best to go through Vanuatu Tourism Office or the tours Facebook pages.
Location was great 5 min drive from airport, next to white grass resort. Owned and run by ni vsnuatu native people unlike other resorts. You are able to arrange all tours easily from there, in fact owner drives you to each and around. Room had air con, good flush toilet and bed was comfy. Seemed clean too. Food was really good but mostly got told what was for dinner for all, rather than choosing off menu. This was similar at wgitegrass though.
Good breakfast. Big portions and excellent coffee. Locally owned and run, much nicer to know money going to locals rather than rich immigrants in the resorts. Tom and Margaret were very relaxed helpful and Friendly. Tom Drove a few of us to the Tanna Volcano and back.
