The breakfast was superb. Having over indulged, food wise, on my sole evening meal for my one day stay, I decided not to go "full english" for the following morning breakfast. I selected Smoked Salmon and scrambled egg. I have NEVER, EVER, ate scrambled egg so fine. I had complimentary orange juice. The buffet selection, of which I could have had in addition, provided a wide selection of choice. The overall "feel" of my breakfast experience, which has to allow for staff energy levels so early in the morning, was simply sublime. As for the bar, the drinks prices were pleasantly surprising, and extremely good value, what with the exclusivety, and the decorative surrounding.

It was only after retiring for the evening, that I actually realised my £266 single room did not provide and bed linen! Not one to complain, I did not seek these further. In all my travels, I have never experienced a lack of bed linen, let alone be expected to pay additional, for same. I was genuinely shocked. It should have been provided, and included within the charge, which I found to be overly expensive. The TV provision sorely needs updating as regard the limited selection of channels at my disposal. Most hotels now ensure their TV has access to Youtube, which practically opens up a myriad of options. I had to address the room temperature, and what with no bed linen, I felt the room was a tad chilly, and the standard heat temperature shall need increasing, what with the season, though I am sure that shall be an automatic procedure suitably applied. One MAJOR area of shock really did let the Hotel down. The stairs leading up to levels two and three were shocking! Each step appeared to be stained, and on my first useage, I thought I was about to step upon a broken egg. The stairs themselves are extremely in need of replacing, and the darkness of the stairwell was most gloomy. It made one feel that the Management considered this as out of eye view from the main experience of the overall premises, and, by implication, indeed, association, left me feeling that the Management were prepared to cut corners for access areas tucked away from the bar and living quarters. I was genuinely shocked, and the stairwell decor needs to brighter, as well. As for the bedroom shower facility, ( I was in Laroche), there is a slight ridge, no more than one and one half inches in height, set on the dark coloured shower floor entrance, that is easily missed. I have poor sight, corrected by glasses, but one does not wear spectacles when entering the shower room. As for my decision to have an evening meal, I was bemused that ordering a rib eye cam without add ons, such as chips or salad.

The bathroom was exceptional with separate bath and shower, automatic lights and immediate warm water. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed comfortable. The walk up to the viaduct and old bridge was fascinating and I also appreciated having a choice of cafes, an excellent baker and mini-supermarket within five minutes walking.

Parking was a bit hard as I had to park my car far away from the house which was 15 minutes walk back to the house other than that everything was great.

The location of apartment was not accurate. The instructions for accessing the apartment was never emailed to me. The phone number was not in service. When I emailed to ask for the instructions (at the time of check in), the photos sent didn't help and weren't correct. When I phoned and emailed to ask for help I never got a response.
