The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  The staff were welcoming and friendly. The maids did a stellar job on cleaning the room while we stayed and making sure we had plenty of towels, etc. The location was great for the concert we went to.

  The overall upkeep of the hotel was lacking. The carpets were dingy and the lighting was spotty. The TV only had 5-10 channels and none of them were a movie or streaming channel. Now more than ever, all hotels should have smart tvs that are capable of streaming. The room service option was way too pricey and didn't have 24 hour availability. The overall quality of the food did not match the price. Finally, the swimming pool area was underwhelming and there was no sauna or hot tub available.

  The outside of the property looks pretty good, but the second you walk in the aroma hits you like a truck, all you smell is mildew and it smells like chemicals to cover up the smell, I got in my room and the first thing I noticed was spider webs in the corner next to the sliding glass door, nothing was wiped down I stay in hotels a lot so I tend to bring a black light I’m not even gonna say what I saw on the bedsheets and blankets so I ran to Walmart and bought a blanket and set of pillows and sheets, the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on by far, so lumpy and worn out, everything about this stay was just brutal I would rather sleep in my car then ever go back to this hotel
