The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  The room was remodeled with a new floor. The price was more affordable after labor day.

  The room seemed to be remodeled which at first seemed very nice. But after a closer look I noticed there was no table between the chairs in the room. All other rooms had a center table. Also no type of mirror above the dresser or anywhere in the room. Our room was located right next door to the cleaning staff room and they were very loud on their intercoms and walkie talkies all day and it was very annoying. Seemed like we didn't get much privacy when we sat out side our room because of all the cleaning staff being right there.

  One large refrigerator not working. Staff and clients had to share the other large refrigerator. No labels for clients to mark their name or exit date on food items. The one fridge was stuffed. Very little room to add food items and unknown how many expired items occupied shelf space. The broken fridge had been out and was reportedly out for several more days. Hostel needs labels.
