- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  I really wanted to like this hotel. It ihad and an advertised shuttle which is why I booked it. See my comments below regarding the shuttle experience. Most of the staff was very nice(Jessica at the front desk, the morning shuttle driver, and the young lady that served breakfast. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was good.

  The reason I gave it such a low rating was because of the shuttle situation and the attitude of some staff. I booked a shuttle 3 days before we arrived and was told it would be waiting for us when our plane arrived. We arrivedlanded on time at the airport at 10:20 PM very tired after a long day of traveling. We went outside for the shuttle, and nothing was there. After waiting for 15 minutes, we called the hotel and were kept on hold for over 10 minutes while the front desk person tried to find a shuttle driver. We then found out that even though our name was on the board for a pick up, apparently no one felt like doing it and had gone home. After a lot of back and forth they sent a taxi which took another 15 minutes. Everyone was gone from the airport at this time. Needless to say, we were very frustrated and angry at this point. The young lady who had to handle all of this was very upset and apologetic over the whole incident and comped us $40.00, which was kind of her. We didn't get to bed until 11:40 and the hotel was right across the road which we hadn't known. We were told that it was good we didn't try to walk across to the hotel because people had been killed crossing the road. The lady who checked us out the next day was not friendly at all. We travel a lot, and I have never been treated like this before. We were going to book this hotel for the night before we flew out, but that will not happen.

  Facility: Very old and ill maintained , elevator is very outdated and slow(it feels like it will breakdown any second) Room: -room curtains dont work, Shower Gel empty, AC old and very loud, windows have no isloation (feels like sleeping on the street) -Flooring of the hallway was bumpy and unsteady Key cards didnt work(had to go back to the reception to reactivate) Very disappointing experience and not worth the value for money at all
