We loved the lodge so much, we returned again this year. It’s right outside of town, so you could walk into town if needed. The units overlook the Kern River and and was relaxing to listen to the sounds of water . We had the kitchenette unit and everything needed to cook our own meals. They also have a BBQ grill and comfortable seating area where you can sit outside and enjoy nature and the fresh air. It’s about an hour from the Land of 100 Giants (sequoias!) and beautiful drive to get here We will be back to whispering pines.

The location was great - our balcony overlooked the beach and boardwalk, and we could see all the way to Rudee Inlet, the pier, Neptune statue, and north toward Fort Story. Watching the ships come and go, the surf - it was great. We were walking distance to several very nice restaurants, and riding our bikes on the boardwalk was fun. The staff was amazing. Always friendly and helpful.

The resort was showing its age, and the elevator broke down for an afternoon/evening, but they had it fixed first thing in the morning. But I'm not surprised given the price I paid for a room with two balconies, and full kitchen, and a jet tub.

I have stayed at many Country Inn and Suites. This is the nicest by far. Everything is new and carefully chosen. The atmosphere is comfortable and tasteful. The TV is large and provides a large selection of programs. The complementary breakfast is excellent with a large selection. Great service. Close to the airport.

I loved my room, it was spacious and well/appointed. I enjoyed the patio, it was nice to be able to step outside and enjoy the morning and evening. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location close to the river and amphitheater were perfect as I was there to enjoy a concert and the natural beauty of the area.

My biggest issue was finding areas untouched by housekeeping. There was litter behind the trash and, a coffee pod was left in the coffeemaker, the ice bin still had water in it, I found hairs, all of which made me wonder how well the room had been cleaned. I would love to give my stay a 5-star rating but this was disappointing.

We weren't informed how to use the card key in the elevators. The card keys were not initially programmed to work in the elevators, leading to an inconvenience trying to get our luggage to our room.

The bed was clean everything worked in the bathroom and the internet was good.

The walls look like they had been spackled and patched by a 5-year-old. There was no security lock on the door and the existing lock could have been bypassed with my finger because of the gaps in the door. The windows were so old they did nothing to alleviate the traffic noise at night of the highway resulting in me getting no sleep whatsoever. There was no fridge microwave or even a coffee maker.
