- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  Location was great, Sonia was very nice and accommodating! She had all our rooms and paperwork ready and we all three (family's ) were checked in, in just a few minutes! Rooms were next to each other as we asked ! Perfect start !

  The rooms had heavy cleaning solution smell, wife got a headache in a few minutes, toilet didn't flush first time! Sonia accommodated us with different room! But had to move all our stuff a long way to the other end of hotel to second floor! But bird poop on stairwells and hanging off exit signs and on floors on the balcony , this room was a little better as far as smell and toilet worked, Heat an A/C was right on top of one bed ! We were shown the room first and accepted it as it was late and our friends were in two other rooms that smelled too! Very disappointed with write up that said casino and clean hotel! Not clean and no casino!

  The person that registered us in was very friendly and helpful with our questions. He had a big smile and made us feel welcomed. He definitely gets a 10 out of 10. I wish I remembered his name.

  Room was clean and comfortable, but it had an almost moldy or old smell. It definitely wasn't strong enough for us to complain to staff about it. We had only stayed 1 night.

  Could hear doors slamming, not great with small children trying to sleep. Had to wait a LONG time for a staff member to show up at the front desk to check in. Breakfast options were very limited, just cereal, bagels, and muffins. Pool was closed.

  The floors were absolutely nasty - walk on them barefoot and it will leave your feet black. Never staying at this location again, even if it means paying double elsewhere. Not sure what happened to the service here, but I have stayed prior and it was never like this. Absolutely disgusting.
