- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  The house was quirky and fun. The beds were very comfortable and the showers were great. The place was nice and clean and there were special thoughtful touches to ensure a great stay. We loved the video game!!

  We had some trouble with the doors. I know it’s an old house. We couldn’t get the closet to open in one of the rooms so we couldn’t hang our clothes in there. And 2 other doors would not completely close. I get it … Old house!

  Room was nice. Had to request linens and blanket for the sofa bed. Kitchen was well equipped. Enjoyed grills, firepit, pool and hot tub.

  They could have allowed for a late checkout maybe at 11 or even 12. 10 was early and check in was not until 3pm which allowed for many hours for cleaning room.

  Honestly the place is ran down. Looks like it was a nice place at one time.

  Everything was either broke or closed early. The front elevator was broke. Our fireplace was broken. The outdoor areas fountain didn’t work. The outdoor pool was closed early. Our room had an Oder that was hard to deal with. The public bathroom by the indoor pool was filthy.

  I didn’t like anything about the property. False advertisement.

  The property doesn’t look the same in person as it does in the pictures. The hotel is very dated and although they offered free coffee, water, and juice, when I went to get something to drink they tried to charge me. They only offered towels after 2pm because they didn’t have any available. We were unable to get showered and dressed for our engagement at a reasonable time due to this inconvenience. We stayed for 2 nights and the charge was over $600 dollars, however as soon as we checked out, the rates for the same room was half of what we initially paid. We weren’t able to get any sleep,because there were planes taking off and landing every 60 to 90 seconds right outside my window. It felt like a constant earthquake. The fact that my hotel room felt like it was sitting on the airport landing strip should have been included in the advertisement, as well as the description/amenities offered.

  The water pressure was terrible, the breakfast was okay, cold, and the waffle maker was broken. The fitness room only had the bike working. The game room had 2 of the 5 games broken. Pictures show a pool table - it did not exist. The pool is small for the number of rooms they have.
