- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

The outdoor space allocated to the B&B is manicured with fruit trees and a nice seating area. Parking is right by the entrance. Very conveniently located for our needs connecting with local family.   Location and hotel were fine. Upon arrival they could find my reservation and were extremely unhelpful when it came to trying to resolve their mistake. Front desk was unable to extend my stay and I was forced to make a separate reservation leading to more confusion. The front desk hadn't a clue what was going on and apparently they have a secondary system that only managers have access to (not present) and those working on the check in desk don't have access to certain reservations. Countless conversations with management trying to resolve this issue who I found rude and who continued to make mistakes.

  Amazing MCM look and feel. I love that the place was being renovated but the original patina was being kept true. The grounds were well maintained and the caretaker's communication was excellent. The location was awesome, very walkable if it was not 110 degrees outside.

  Renovations were going on at the time of our stay. The hot tub was closed and under construction. The internet was hit and miss. Not easy to work off of in the room. It was better around the pool.

  Customer care, comfortable bed, accommodating to our needs, mgr. super nice, shower was great. Only thing I would change is the hand towel rack that’s in front of sink and the hanging of clothes area was difficult to use the short corded hair dryer.

  The room needs to be renovated. The flooring was peeling up throughout. The bathroom also needs a refresh and wasn't clean enough. I saw short hairs in the bathtub which was also pretty old. I didn't feel like it was clean enough to use. I was alone during my stay. I don't think I could've stayed there with my family. There's a reason the price was so low. I trusted the overall rating and regretted it.
