- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  Great location right on the river, the owners put a lot of work into the place. It has a nice outdoor eating area, hot tub and a riverside sitting area. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. We liked that there was a coffee station with coffee provided and the outdoor riverside seating was great. The hot tub worked well, the outdoor TV and fireplace room was comfortable and the firepit has a great location (although we did not use it).

  The house still needs a little work to be in tip top shape. The sliding bathroom door didn't stay closed unless it was locked (a tiny turn knob that was sticky so not really usable). The bathroom towel hooks are simply stuck to the wall, not drilled in, so they fell off the wall under the weight of a bath towel. Questions to the host through booking.com went unanswered during our stay. The house could use an information book that provides details about using the amenities on the property. For example, the gas fireplace switch wasn't located in an intuitive place and there were no instructions on using the riverside space heater. Note that there is no river access here.

  The unit was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of space to spread out. The beds were great. We had everything we needed. The town is beautiful and it’s just a couple minutes walk to the beach. If going to the National Park and locations like Crescent Lake, Sol Duc Falls or Hurricane Ridge it will be 3 hours or more of driving (each way).

  Didn’t have as many kitchen items as other properties. Things like measuring spoons or a crock pot. Limited butter knives. But the basics were there. Some areas in the unit need cosmetic repair - corners, edges, ledges etc but it doesn’t impact the stay. Would liked to have had a shade/blind on the patio doors as there are lights in the town and it’s too bright to sleep on the couch. This location is definitely pricey but worth it if you want to splurge a bit.
