- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  Staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely property very conveniently located—able to walk to the Park and the Lake. Spacious room, comfortable, clean and quiet.

  Hotel is priced like a 4/5 star hotel. With that in mind, I would expect higher quality bedding. Breakfast was good but not great. On day 2 and three some pastries were stale (leftovers?). Cards in the room and on breakfast tables requesting tips were not cool, especially since breakfast was completely self serve.

  I loved the view from my room. I liked how updated the room was. Also the restaurant has an amazing bar and great drinks.

  There was no AC. Our room was not picked up very well. There were crumbs and dirt throughout the room on the floor. When I would walk barefoot my feet picked up crumbs and dirt off the floor. Then I started looking around and the floor was dirty. The curtains in our room were too small and did not give us privacy. We had a room with a view of the beach, parking lot and could see some of the restaurant. When we went to the restaurant my husband and I were seated and we waited about 15 minutes and no one came to get us drinks or take our order so we got up and sat st the bar where we were served great drinks and service from the bartender.

  Filthy floors, we noticed the bottom of our kids feet and realized how filthy the floor was and had to run to target to buy a swiffer wet jet to clean the floors. Used up about 8 swiffer pads to get it decent enough to walk on.
