Great location and value, I feel we got a great value for the room price and the pet -friendly policy. Room had what we needed and although was basic we were comfortable. I would stay here again and check out other Motel 6 as a result

Surfjack has become our go-to place when we pass through Honolulu. Friendly vibe -- way better than the large hotels. The location is great, walkable to beaches and restaurants but a few blocks away from the hustle of Waikiki Beach.

I did like the fact that the property was new and the rooms are very well appointed. The coffee shop is great.

The fact that the music is on in the courtyard or by the pool so early in the morning waking people up, is a bad move. Perhaps wait till 10 AM or 11 AM. The sound from the ground level echoes up into the rooms much louder Also, you should not allow guest with dogs on the same floor or in the same building for that matter, as guest with no dogs. I had a dog barking next to me for four hours in the morning and it was awful. I called the front desk. Nobody did anything about it. They could hear the dog barking on the phone. And did nothing about it. This is a real turn off. I have had dogs my entire life and would never leave a dog in the room that long. If you have a barking dog it ruins everybody's stay except the selfish people that leave the poor dogs sitting in the room barking. Everyone has to suffer because of one bad dog owner. This should not fall on to those people who are trying to enjoy their stay in peace and quiet paying top dollar for a luxury experience. This cheapens the entire experience and quite honestly ruined my stay. Also the food was very expensive in the restaurant of the lobby ( $20 to add chicken to a Caesar salad ... a salad for $48 That's not room service??) . also, I reserved a specific room and when I checked in the concierge or the check-in person tried switching my room and I caught it. I also felt like staff was not up to snuff and was struggling.

The staff are enthusiastic and willing to serve.It is very close to Universal Studios and there is a shuttle bus, which is very convenient.

The bathroom was old-fashioned, with black dirt in the corners and the floor looked a bit dirty, even though it was cleaned. The bathtub drain in my room was broken.
