- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  Fairly ghetto. They didn't have any extra pillows in the pillows that we had were basically pancakes. They also apparently didn't have any bottom sheets because our bed had a flat sheet on it for the bottom and it just came off while we were laying in bed so I woke up laying on the mattress which is gross. Also it wasn't super clean and it's a bit outdated. The bed frame is too small at the bottom so they just threw some 2x4s to balance it out pretty janky. Not even enough outlets to plug everything and all at once. Had to unplug the coffee maker to use the microwave or keep the fridge going or keep the TV going or the lamp.... You had to pick 4 out of the 5. Pretty easy fix but they have not bothered to do so!Also the pool only stays open till 10:00 p.m. as well as the hot tub why you would close a pool and hot tub at 10:00 p.m. in a place that is open 24 hours a day is beyond me!
