The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

      Very outdated in decor. Carpets are dirty looking from years of use. The room had dreary and unappealing fluorescent glow. There was no hair dryer, no toiletries, and the “free breakfast was completely unappealing. Out of milk, the coffee carafe was empty two separate times I went to the lobby to get some. The parking was insufficient, our “reserved space” I was told when we checked in was “yours unless someone has taken it. “ The towels were like what is given out for swim class in high school. All that said, the locales great for our needs, and the all female staff were very sweet and friendly. If someone comes in and spiffs it up- talking major makeover- it has potential to compete with the local hotels.

      I was able to access my room earlier than normal checkin. The Crockett Room is wonderful - a mix of old and new. My husband loves the bed and pillows. Breakfast was phenomenal. It's like staying with family.
