- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  It was a great location and a beautiful spot to stay for the weekend. Had several stores and restaurants nearby and convenient to the hotel. We had a nice weekend away from home.

  The hot tub was on the small side but still made for an excellent relaxing experience. The weather wasn’t warm enough to use the outside pool, but it looked wonderful and very inviting. There was no room cleaning during our stay, but we were able to request needed items - like clean towels - from the front desk.

  The hotel seems to be a druggie hangout. Upon arriving, there was a construction crew very drunk and smoking weed in the parking lot (nothing against it, the smell gives me a headache though). The second or third night of being there, we pulled into the parking lot to enter the building and parked. When exiting the vehicle, the vehicle next to us was scrambling to put away their heroin and cocaine before being seen! We did later see them inside the hotel going to their room, very disoriented. The room was clean upon arrival, and the staff did a great job of switching out towels and such; however, the sheets were never changed despite there being visible marks on them from our stay. The breakfast buffet was nice and convenient to use, but I do wish there was some kind of meat involved.
