- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  The only thing was they put us in what they referred to as a new room. No problem but you kind of need to pack a lunch to get there. Up to floor 4 change elevators and the access your floor but the new elevator was a walk from the original elevator. It was a Tuesday night had to believe they didn’t have a more accessible room.

  Room was ok, we paid for two nights and then had to stay another two nights which we paid more for. This was expected as it was supposed to be a bigger room with a sea view. But when we were transferred to it, it was smaller and no water view. We paid for our first drinks at the bar by credit card with a $10 tip, but in the morning, we decided to pay everything by cash in the future as our days were getting limited. So, Breakfast we paid by cash. Later on, check out they said that it was paid by credit card. I asked to see the manager, but they were not there, and they promised that they would clear the matter up and send us an email. They sent an email saying that they had security camera showing we paid by credit card. I asked for it to be sent to me. So, they sent only the picture of the drinks and Tip (not breakfast). I have sent a few emails and have not received any more reply. Very sad. Buyer beware!
