- “So welcoming and comfortable from the minute you enter. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room, although on the small side was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  The view is beautiful and is the highlight of the unit. It was clean and supplied with everything you need including laundry and dishwasher soap, extra sheets and pillow, and soap… most things you would need but don’t necessarily think about. I never knew the host’s name so did not feel like it was a particularly warm interaction but they were open to allowing my colleagues to stay with me when our travel plans changed last minute. I really appreciated this. The shower was also amazing. Overall, a great experience and a beautiful bachelor space.

  I was visiting for work so would have loved to have a table and chair with a back. There was a high table and stools but it was not very comfortable for working on my computer. Also, when I first arrived, I had to wait for someone to open the main door of the building because I did not have the fob needed to enter but that was resolved after I got the key/fob. I also didn’t have to wait very long.

  The location is great- it’s right across from the market, the rail station and Maggianos. Additionally, the hotel has a good gym and the room was comfortable.

  The wait for service and food inside the restaurant was ridiculous. There was extremely limited waitstaff at the first floor bar/ dining area and the line for breakfast at the sit down restaurant wrapped around and had an excessive wait.

  We had to move rooms not once but 3 times. 1st room: 5th floor. Balcony door had no deadbolt or anyway from keeping a toddler/child from opening the door. We had to move because one of the beds were broken. 2nd room: 2nd floor. put our stuff into new room, go down to our car leave for maybe 1 1/2-2 hours. Come back for not even 3 minutes & there was a actual cockroach that was alive in the room. 🤢 we have a toddler & a baby! Absolutely not! So I go tell the girl at the desk (she was very helpful!) & she moved us! 3rd room: it wasn’t the best. But not the worst. Once again no way of keeping a toddler/ small child from opening balacony door, which was very alarming! The floor often smelt like pot. It was very difficult having to swap rooms 3 times just for 1 night stay.
