The shower was great and the supplies toiletries were lovely. The bed was comfy, and there was a hanging rail for clothes and a hairdryer. The USB charging points by the bed were useful too. The bar / breakfast room is great, the brewery themed decor was really well done. Speaking of the breakfast, it was on par if not better than some I've had in 4 or 5 star hotels. The scrambled eggs were THE BEST I've seen on a buffet - light and fluffy unlike the tasteless, watery offering you often get! The staff at breakfast are so accommodating and helpful, and extremely on the ball with clearing tables. The location is good, the road at the front is busy but we couldn't hear anything from our room. The train station and city centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, I'm sure there are buses but we didn't bother. We had travelled by train and arrived hours before check in time and asked to pop our bags in their secure luggage room, but to our surprise were told our room was ready so we were able to freshen up before heading off to explore. We've stayed in York multiple times over the last 8 years, at least once a year and this is by far my favourite place that we have stayed in. I have paid much more to stay in far inferior hotels! (But please don't put the prices up, we want to come back ;-))”

  No parking upon arriving which makes it horrid for those who have physical ailments as there are no accommodations. Staff did not know we had changed our reservations and asked for accomodations. We went from two rooms for 173 to one room for 173....make the price make sense. The desk mans lips were lined with tobacco juice that had dried to his lips. He was short and rude with customers answering the hotel phone with "hold on I'm checking someone on"....there was an elevator..not accessible...The hotel was very unkept ...cobwebs everywhere...dust ..dirty windows. Our room had a lovely view of other rooms air conditioners out all windows. I expected some type of view for the non discounted price for the room downgrade. The linens on the bed were dirty and torn. We went to the bar for a drink where we were told we had to come to the bar to order drinks despite the bar tender walking around table to table. When was clothes inappropriately with short shorts and heavy make up. I ordered a southern comfort on the rocks with soda on the side...they didn't have the soda I liked hence on the side. My alcohol was watered down ...I drink southern on a regular basis and new instantly. I was charged 16 dollars for a shot , a Coors light and a half filled soda. Upon going into their dining room for dinner ...we were looking forward to the extensive menu they provided on line. NONE of which was available except the mignon steak. We ordered Brie with nuts and baguettes for appetizers which the bread was spoiled. The cook tried telling us it was the taste from the oven...insulting to say the least to assume we don't know what moldy bread tastes like. No solution was offered. We paid 20 dollars for a dish we couldn't eat. For our main course we had a Caesar salad, mignon steak and baked potato. Our salad came in dirty bowls and topped with taco strips and tons of vegetables that normally wouldn't come with Caesar salad...
